Justin Schultz Abbotsford Heat OKC Barons

I really like Reinhart's game too. I'd argue he will be at least a year behind Baertschi due mostly to their respective skill set and the Flames needs.

Baertschi will get the call much earlier than him because the parent club needs top end scoring but since Reinhart is likely to be a checking line player it makes sense to continue developing him in Abby.

I agree though that he will eventually be a very good 3rd line center. He has enough hockey sense to contribute once and awhile on the scoresheet but his faceoffs are already unreal. With a little more strength he will be a bull. Canucks fans will grow to really dislike him.

Why are Canucks fans booing him? As far as I know he turned down 29 other teams. Is he going to get booed everywere he plays? Grow up stupid Canucks fans. No wonder we are tagged as biggest duchebags. Unreal. I'm sad we didn't get him, but move one! MIke Gillis will not gaurantee anyone ice time, and he will stick with that philosophy for any unproven player.

Canucks fans are really low sometimes.

Every true Canuck fan should boo that piece of **** Schultz every chance they get.

What a snooze-fest of a game ... Schultz is definitely a bright spot, though. Leading the league in scoring, which is incredible.

I agree that booing Schultz is definitely not classy at all, but it comes as no surprise. This is the same city that has booed the best goaltender we've ever had out of town, booed our captain, rags on Art Ross trophy winners, etc. all the while they drool over 7-goal scorers and prospects that have accomplished nothing. Not everyone in the city, obviously, but a significant enough number that it's not abnormal ...

Ya, well, I'm a Canucks fan but I'm a hockey fan first.

I take the chance to go to Abbotsford and watch a game as much as I can so I'm pretty familiar with the guys there. Saying that, outside of Baertschi and Reinhart, there isn't much there. Bouma will be a good north-south winger though probably a 4th liner, Brodie is a PP specialist at best and Nemisz has a shot to be a regular NHLer. The rest are basically scrubs right now.

I also got a chance to see Tyler Wotherspoon this weekend with the Winterhawks and he looks like a very solid pick too. I'd favourably compare him to a Steve Montador (if you remember him as a Flame). Solid two way guy that will probably never be a big scorer but can be used in all situations though a little less gritty with a better first pass. He was a good pick for the Flames.

No love for Horak? (though im sure you just forgot about him, I hope :P)

And other than Markus Granlund who's still very raw, the 2011 draft is looking AWESOME for the Flames even just one year after. Baerschi, Wotherspoon, Gaudreau, and Brossoit. Sucked that our own 2nd round pick which Chicago had was used to take Saad, worst part is Granlund was 2 picks after

I'm not a huge Horak fan. He has too many flaws in his game to be sure bet in the NHL. He has to be in a top 6 and he lacks commitment to defense and he 'pulls the 'chute' a lot. I question his ability to score from the tough areas at the next level.

Gaudreau, from what I understand, is a little ....well....little. He's highly unlikely to make an impact. Brossoit isn't going to make a difference for 4-5 years at best so talk to me then. ::D

Overall, 2011 was a good draft for what the Flames had but Weisbrod has a lot of making up to do for some horrible drafts before that.

The fact you know Weisbrod is the responsible one for the recent Flames drafts is pretty cool. Closet Flames fan? :P

Horak played in the NHL for a big chunk of last season and held his own. Once his offence comes around he'll be a decent player. As for Gaudreau, think Atkinson, but more shifty. Hobey is in sight this year

No, no....I'm a hockey nerd with some inside access. I hate the Flames.

There is a fine line between AHL and NHL and my personal opinion is that Horak doesn't have it. There was a good reason that Calgary also got two 2nds with him for Erixon (Wotherspoon and Granlund). That still may wind up being a good trade for the Flames.

The list of Hobey Baker winners that played well in the NHL...... small.

Brossoit is nothing special from what I've seen. He's big and athletic, but his technique is sorely lacking and his mentality/attitude is just awful. Anyone remember the WJC game where he got rocked and Canada lost and he was saying things like, "If we had a goaltender, we would've won?" I don't want a guy with that attitude between the pipes on my team.
