An industrial guinea pig farm for meat production. With the increase in South Americans moving here it will be a growth industry.

Those little suckers when fatted and BBQ'd are delicious.

$72 for me to go from the lower mainland to the Island IS too much

I will agree with that, as I don't get my discount while I'm away at university in Kelowna so when I drive home for reading break its 2 tanks of gas and 2 ferry fares. However, inflation is occurring everywhere in the economy and prices are going to continually increase if the ferries are going to keep losing money.

As I said in my first post, look at the Anacortes, Coho, and Clipper ferries.
Anacortes is basically the same (65.90 + tax, terrible boat)
Coho is 58.50, however quite inconvenient that there's only one boat (which is also very old) and limited sailings.
Clipper, even though it's a passenger ferry, is 77 - 92 dollars.

You have to think about convenience (I'll use tsawassen to swartz bay as my example as that's my run), as there's generally 4 ferries running during the peak season in comparison to the other 3's 1. Do you know how many more people would complain if there were less sailings a day but the price was still the same? Another thing is things to do on the ferry. There's arcades, snack bars, a white spot, buffet, private lounge, and play areas for the kids. There's terrible food on the Coho and Anacortes, and that's about it (other than Duty Free, that's legit).
I know for a fact that people would complain even more if the boats weren't as nice. Where's the hate for the other companies with their mediocre services?

Plus, there's generally always mid-week specials for the people that don't feel like paying full price.
That, and it's one of the most beautiful highways you will ever travel on.

It's because you guys are over paid

We're paid "so much" because our main job on the ferry isn't what whatever we're doing on the ferry, it's to keep the passengers safe. We spent 2 weeks of training with Transport Canada to gain the knowledge of operating any of the emergency systems on the boat (chute, slide, rafts, davit for the rescue boats), and to deal with all other problems on the ferry from heart attacks to bomb threats. Everybody has an emergency card on them, and in cases a lot of the crew has quite a lot of responsibility. Just this last summer, I was on the boat for 7 situations where an ambulance was needed, and a bomb threat. Next time you're on the ferry, ask to see a crew member's MED card.

People such as the CEO and high execs may make a ton of money, but for the majority of the summer workers which are university students such as myself, 20 dollars an hour is a great wage to work at so we don't get too much debt. Don't hate.

Victoria needs a bowling alley. I don't wanna go all the way to Langford to go bowling

I agree. Sidney's 5 pin is terrible as well, and the drive to Langford just to go bowling from there just isn't worth it

Nope. I'm 100% serious. In case you didn't know, guinea pigs were domesticated as a food source.

It's only around 15 bucks if you don't bring your car.

To the OP: a proper hockey shop

That feel when you don't have a car and ride the ferry for 15 dollars and just take the bus from the ferry terminal to Victoria/Nanaimo

Ramen shops, izakayas, AYCE sushi, always thought a noodle place (pho, ramen) would make lots of money down at cadboro bay village down the hill from UVic, as there are a lot of international students and no place to go within walking distance. Fujiya on Shelbourne is far and it sucks in comparison to Sushi in Vancouver.

They did in their old shop, I'm sure they still do. They're mainly hockey during the winter season, and baseball / lacrosse during the summer
