Would there have been a riot if the Canucks won?

Yes, when you have creeps taking the bus into town from the burbs in the afternoon with a backpack full of Molotov cocktails it really doesn't matter what the final score is. It's going to happen regardless.

Why didn't we sign Scott Niedermayer in the offseason when he had said he was interested in playing here?

It was either Neidermeyer or re-sign Naslund. They went with Naslund.

P.S. why does spell check want to change Neidermeyer to "SpiderMonkey"?

And what if Niedermayer was useless like Messier was? Then we lost one of our best players during the time. It was a risk that the management decided not to take.

My curiosity is this:

Do you think once we lost game 3 and/or 4 of the 2011 Cup Finals, that our players basically gave up and wanted to go home?

I've maintained that if we had never traded Neely, and kept Larionov that alone would have won us a cup in 1994.

If we used the draft pick we gave up for the Neely trade and drafted Sakic, I'm pretty sure we would have had a mini-dynasty.

Linden (play off wing on left side), Sakic, Neely (Mixture of skill, size, and toughness and grit)
Courtnall Larionov Bure (Toughness and skill)

Those top two lines I'd match up against any in the league from 1992 to 1996.

Of course if we simply had good scouts and better management back in the mid to late 80's and early 1990's we would have had less wasted good draft picks. Cough..cough... Antoski, Nedved, Herter, Woodley... <cry>

Did Harold Snepts drink beer before a NHL game?

I know he did after he retired (a friend of mine was in a tournament in Vegas with him and told me).

1. After Bure was traded to florida has the canucks organization ever wanted him back? i.e offer him a contract?
2. Has pavel bure wanted to come back and play for the canucks after being traded to the rangers?

Perhaps he drank before game 1 of the 82 finals against the Islanders. That giveaway to Bossy in OT was terrible.

1) Moot point, Bure was happy to get the heck out of here.

2) You mean after his knee was so mangled he had to retire?

I disagree. I think if we kept Neely he wouldn't have turned into half the player he ended up being.
Same could be said about Naslund. Would he have been as useful if he stayed in Pittsburgh?

What do the players think about Luongo possibly being traded, and if Schnieds can do just as well?

They are probably thinking
" crap, if the fans and media can build up so high and and then tear down to shreds the best goalie the city has ever known, what are they gonna do to me?"

Not that I think Luongo's playoff performances have any excuse.

The real difference between Cloutier and Luongo is that nobody ever thought very highly of Cloutier. Luongo on the other hand is praised by many as "elite", "top 3 on the planet", etc., when he has accomplished not much more than Cloutier in the playoffs and has had even worse games.
Here's a question
If Luongo was in our net in the 2002 playoffs, would he have let in the infamous Lidstrom goal?
Would we have taken a 2-0 series lead with Luongo?
How many times in the series would Luongo get ventilated?

He accomplished just as much as Cloutier in playoffs. And way, way better in the regular season.

But yeah, I bet the players are wondering how a fanbase can turn on the guy who almost won the cup here, getting 2 shutouts in the stanley cup finals.

A few curiousities near the top of my list include:

Was Pavel Bure on enhancement performing drugs?

We'll never know but I doubt it.

Why has AV never given Ballard a fair chance to succeed?

He's been given fair chances. Tried on the left side with Bieksa. Failed. Tried on the right side with Edler. Failed. He has said himself he's not comfortable on the right side. So the big question is: who do you move down to third pair from the left side to make room for him? The choices are Edler or Hamhuis. Is he better offensively than Edler? Nope. Is he better defensively than Hamhuis? Nope. So where does that leave him? Left side third pair where he is.

Why did Jeff Brown go and do what he did?

The simple answer: All to often guys let the little head do more of their thinking than the big head.

It was either Neidermeyer or re-sign Naslund. They went with Naslund.

Neidermeyer was never coming here. He gave the same pc answer to the press here (I could see myself playing there) that he gave to the press in Calgary.
