Since we all know that this season will be cancelled and the lockout will extend upto the next season, I deem it necessary to post my Replacement team. It is inevitable that the NHL will resort to this as no one will budge in these negotiations. Here's my team, most have past Canuck connections:

Naslund Bullis Linden
Cowan Santala Shirokov
Tambellini Krog Reid
Chouinard Haydar Goren

They aren't gunna have replacement players.

It would make the NHL look like a bigger joke than it already is, and it's done a pretty good job of becoming the joke of the sports world already,

If the NHL was to go with replacement players, they would have to drop Vancouver from the league. The use of replacement workers during a labour dispute is illegal in BC.

I may be a drunk bastard, but I don't understand why the league or fans would consider the joke that is replacement players.

The NHL is the best league on the planet because it employs the best players, not second tier players.

The NHL would do itself more harm than good if it used replacement players.

Why would Naslund and Linden come out of retirement to be on a team of second league players?

1) We don't know that there won't be a season

and

2) If people thought replacement refs were bad, imagine how bad replacement players would be
  • 0

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

They might as well go with replacement players. Fits right in with all the other idiocy that's been going on.

I bet we would win the replacement Stanley Cup with this lineup. Bring the Avco cup out of retirement. Better than nothing, right?

the only problem with this dynamite lineup that I can find is that Jan Bulis is a winger, not a centerman. Other than that, great lineup...... :sadno:

Isn't there a lockout? If you mean for next year, just watch for it and give me props if it extends 'til next season.

Why would Naslund and Linden come out of retirement to be on a team of second league players?

And why would Linden a former NHLPA player rep decide to become a scab and betray his former union?

I can understand missing hockey (i do too) and trying to figure something out to "pass the time", but the "replacement lineup" you have concocted needs work... Linden, former NHLPA president, will not come out of retirement to be a scab. Naslund is back home in Sweden, he is not coming back to be a scab. Cloutier... well... Cloutier is a scab... so good choice there... I could go on, but I have a job to go back to or they'll hire scabs.

It's pretty serious. Last 2004 replacement placement players were already approved only averted by a last minute deal.

Not to mention this would be insulting to a few of those guys; Sopel, Kraijeck in particular. "Hey, you guys sucked too much to stick around but we need replacement players so come back, please."
