I don't understand any of the coaches decisions. And how are their special teams still bottom of the league?

Arniel has a soft spot for Desbiens because they went to the Calder cup finals together in 08-09 with the Moose. And Desbiens was quite good throughout that run.

Iit's not uncommon for coaches to have favourites like that. I am surprised he's using him as much as he is though, especially when he's costing the team with dumb plays.

Desbiens has played 12/14 games, has 1 pt and a team worst -5. They use him on the #1 PK unit - when their special teams are near bottom of league. He kills more offensive plays than he creates. Arneils gotta cut the cord with Desbiens. I understand the loyalty, but there are better options. He's a minor penaly machine

He's also got to find some consistent linemates with Kassian. He's the Nucks top prospect and has been a minus in the last few games with no points.

Line up (from what I've gathered):

Haydar - Ebbett - Pinizzotto
Gordon - Schroeder - Kassian
Sweatt - Friesen - Rodin
Miller - Mallet - Desbiens

Connauton - Joslin
Hunt - Tanev
Miskovic - Matheson

Climie

Even at 20 lbs. less, I'm not seeing a whole lot of mobility out of Kassian.

Anyone else?

Yeah, not a stretch to say he's an Arniel favourite. But at what cost...

Agreed - he should not be on the top PK unit, simply. All valid points.

I see a lot more mobility. Creates a lot of offensive opp's, but needs some work on the defensive side of the game IMO.

Also, I just thought it's kind of funny to see how opinions of Arniel have changed so drastically since the last time he was with the organization as coach of the Moose.

I mean, remember when people used to praise him for doing a good job in Manitoba? And now lots of people are fed up with his coaching. Interesting how perspectives change.

Perhaps it's just because we didn't pay as much attention to the farm team back then?

No, people used to complain about Arniel's decision making even when he was with the Moose. Mainly because of his constant line juggling; which people in this market clearly have had enough of.

Arniel got alot of credit he didn't deserve with that team IMO. He leaned heavily on schneider to stand on his head in order for the team to win on most nights. The D on the Moose had about a little structure as the D on the Wolves.

He also had a guy like Krog, who was one of the best players in the AHL. And Grabner, who could be a gamebreaker in the AHL on some nights.

I still think he's a good coach, he just needs to figure this team out. He can't go half a season trying to figure out who plays well together.

I could see on the video it was in. The announcers saw it go in. Kass probably saw it go in and said the ref was full of crap. Defensive, incompetent refs hand out misconducts like candy on Halloween.

Ah, I see. I thought most people thought highly of him back then, no? Seems the line juggling is a constant issue, luckily once again though he has a goalie who can stand on his head in Lack.

Not a good sign though, about the lack of structure to the defence if that's true. So far it seems that way, given what we've seen here with the Wolves so far.

But sooner or later this team is going to have to gel together if they want consistency. They're still too up and down in their play for my liking.

Re Kass's 10 min -

Paul LaTour@platour68

@SoYoureAnExpert I didn't see it either, but I was told it was for his reaction on the no-goal review call.
