Let's get into the real problem here then. The only two venomous lizards known are the Gila Monster, and the Mexican Beaded Lizard (Possibly a few types of monitor like Komodo Dragons, and bearded dragons are thought to have venom sacks but a poor delivery system).

The lizard in the picture is clearly none of the above. So how is he getting poisoned by the lizards? Is he ingesting them like GD said, and then getting salmonella poisoning? Why didn't Spock learn after the first salmonella poisoning that he should cook his lizards first?

We need to analyze!
