Losing With Pride
Hey everyone, the girlfriend and I are heading to Vancouver for a few days Dec 11-14th. I have a work conference for one day and just made a mini vacation out of it. Since there is no hockey going on and it's December... what can we do? We will be there from Tuesday to Friday late. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks =)
ronthecivil
Head to the mountains and ski? Stay in the city and get rained on? Like cold, cold rain. So could you would be warmer in the snow.

Losing With Pride
Besides eating, is there anything else that's fun to do? How is the zoo here? Best places to shop?

-DLC-
VanDusen Garden turns festive with elaborate light decorations, a Candy Cane Tree, Gingerbread Walk, Santa's workshop, and much more. Where: VanDusen Botanical Gardens, 5251 Oak St., Vancouver Cost: $13.50; $10 for seniors & youth; $7.50 for kids 6 - 12; $31 for families It's a pretty cool display. Also, Stanley Park. If there is a clear day, head into Steveston and walk along the boardwalk and to Garry Point...a nice, scenic stroll with some really great shops. And if you like pizza, hit Steveston Pizza for lunch/dinner while you're there. There's also good fish and chips and Greek food on Moncton Street. elvis15
The zoo is sub-par... and 40 km outside of town. Vancouver Aquarium is worth a look, plus it's in the middle of Stanley Park - which should be a visit for any 'outsider'
Buggernut
If there's a clear day, ski/board Grouse Mountain. The scenery from up there is like none other. If you don't ski/board, just go up there anyways for the view and some dining.
I♥Wellwood
The zoo is only worth it if it's sunny and warm out. If it's raining, you'll be wet and the entire zoo will start to look pretty depressing to you. Check out Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, Science World, the sea wall. You can always check to see if there are any tours of Rogers Arena being offered that week. Pretty interesting imo. The Capilano Suspension Bridge is always fun the first time
RonMexico
Haha I like how a lot of the advice is: coming to Vancouver?...Go to Whistler! Sort of defeats the purpose of visiting Vancouver. Spend a day on Grouse Mountain. Spend a day downtown/stanley park. You want a real adventure? Drive around Richmond or try to leave the North Shore during rush hour! PS. Bring an umbrella that can handle wind as well as rain.

Losing With Pride
My company is paying for a room at the Hilton but only one night, so I can either stay there or go somewhere else. The problem is that this is the Hilton Airport in Richmond... So basically to downtown Vancouver it is $40 each way. Should I stay somewhere more central for the other 2 nights?
