Avicii
Lets hope the softest team in the league pulls the trigger on a stable veteran fighter like this......

fanofvan
I actually see Vandermeer as an upgrade on both Rome and Alberts. When used in the right situation he can be highly effective. He is a big body who can provide some offence, can fight, and can hit but the knock is the ability to stay in the lineup consistently.
Understand
Either him or Baker will be the toughest player on our team if one of them sign with us, do it MG.

Understand
Vandermeer for sure. Tougher then Bieksa and Patti. Barker...not very tough. He will fight when he has to and sticks up for team mates, but not very good at it.
Rypien37
Barker is 6'3, 220 pounds, none of our dman with that size.
CookieCrumbs
Alberts 6'5 218 Edler 6'3 215 Garrison 6'2 218 But we are talking about toughness, and Alberts is the softest out of that group. Hell, I'm 6'3 208. That kind of size isn't considered very big anymore in today's NHL. Vandermeer is 6'1 215, average/decent size but tough as nails. Avicii
Okay, he's big and tough. When is he going to play exactly? You're gonna put him out there just to fight someone? I'd rather not play with 5 defenseman. Vandermeer is a plug and a pylon. Why waste a contract on a guy that won't see a single game in the playoffs? And who is he possibly going to replace if he does, Ballard/Tanev? Yeah, no i'd rather have Ballard. (And that's saying something)

Avicii
Because we need depth defenders in-case of an injury, like Rome and Alberts?

Avicii
You're sort of defeating your argument though, it doesn't matter who we sign. They're not going to play many games, and are going to get plugger minutes. I'd rather have someone like Vandermeer who can throw down if he has to. It could also end up being Barker depending on if the PTO rumors are true, but regardless of who it is they aren't going to be logging a lot of games or minutes during games. BananaMash
We also have Mullen and Joslin. Completely forgot about those plugs, why do we need more defenseman?

Rypien37
Now THAT is a player that MG should have pushed for. That would have been an amazing pick up for our bottom 6.
