Chimon
LEAF IT TO LUO Luongo Backstops Maple Leafs to Eastern Conference Finals The Toronto Maple Leafs' continue their cinderella run in the playoffs behind Roberto Luongo's 25 saves, dispatching the Boston Bruins in 5 games. Facing a team that had won 4 out of 6 meetings in the regular season against them, the Leafs relied on balanced scoring and the spectacular goaltending of Luongo to make the Eastern Conference Finals since 2002. Despite having a mediocre regular season by his own standards and falling short in last season's playoffs (where the Leafs were eliminated in 5 games), Roberto Luongo set out to prove his doubters wrong this year. Against the President's Trophy winners Brooklyn Beavers, the elite netminder allowed only 9 goals in 6 games, posting a shutout, then took his game to another level against the hated Boston Bruins, where he stopped 115 out of 120 shots in the 5-game series and posted his second shutout in Game 3. Without a doubt, Luongo is surely turning this darkhorse team into a legitimate contender this year, and making a case for himself as a potential Conn Smythe candidate. 2012-13 Playoffs: 1-2-2, 1.57 GAA, 0.937 Sv%, 1 SO 2013-14 Regular Season: 33-17-10, 2.03 GAA, 0.917 Sv%, 4 SO 2013-14 Playoffs (v Brooklyn): 4-1-1, 1.50 GAA, 0.943 Sv%, 1 SO, 150/159 shots saved 2013-14 Playoffs (V Boston): 4-1-0, 1.00 GAA, 0.958 Sv%, 1 SO, 115/120 shots saved 2013-14 Playoffs (Total): 8-2-1, 1.26 GAA, 0.950 Sv%, 2 SO (14 GA in 11 GP)
