SOB for MVP
Preliminary List of Players Coming to North America + Scouting Reports Alexander Frolov - LW - 6'2", 231 lbs (Age 31) - Projected: Bottom 6 winger - A winger who moves well and has excellent skating. A good finisher and takes advantage of scoring opportunities. Creative with the puck. Frolov's biggest weakness is his lack of physicality especially considering his size. Kevin Dallman - D - 5'11", 195 lbs (Age 33) - Projected: Top 4 Offensive Defenceman - Kevin Dallman has played for three NHL teams, last appearing with the Kings in 2007-08. - Since then, the Niagara Falls, Ontario, native has put together four strong seasons in the KHL as an offensive defenseman. - Twice, Dallman has topped the 50-point mark in a season and once he has scored more than 20 goals. Tony Martenssen - C - 6'0", 190 lbs (Age 33) - Projection: Top 9 Center - Tony Martenssen played six NHL games for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks back in 2003-04. Since then, the smooth skating Swedish center has split time between the Swedish Elite League and the KHL. - Martenssen has succeeded in both leagues, topping the 60-point mark every other year over the past six seasons. - A very well-rounded center. Mårtensson is a good skater, an excellent playmaker and has soft hands. Usually puts up a lot of points. Not only gifted offensively, but also valuable in shorthanded situations. A star player at minor league level. Robert Rosen - C - 5'9", 176 lbs (Age 26) - Projection: Bottom 6 center with offensive upside - Rosen may be too small to play in the NHL, but his lack of size hasn't stopped the 25-year-old from being successful in the Swedish Elite League. - Last year with AIK, Rosen racked up 60 points in 55 games. He led the league in both assists and points in just his second year in the Elite League. - A pure offensive forward, Rosén owns excellent playmaking ability. With his vision and passing skills, he can run a powerplay with aplomb. Petr Ton - LW - 6'0", 202 lbs (Age 40) - Projection: Third line scoring winger, seeking a 1 year shot at the cup - Petr Ton is not an NHL prospect but at 40 years old, he has had a very successful career in Europe since turning pro in 1992-93. - Ton is not showing signs of slowing down. Last year for Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic, Ton was third in the league in goals (25) and points (58) while playing in 52 games. - He scored a career-high 34 goals in just 48 games in 2009-10. Richard Gynge - RW - 6'1", 196 lbs (Age 27) - Projection: Third line scoring winger - Gynge led the Swedish Elite League in goals scored last season with 28 scores in 55 games. - Gynge is a "Cy Young" type of player, easily getting more goals than assists in both of his seasons in the Swedish Elite League. - At age 27, Gygne should be entering his most productive seasons now and is expected to continue to be one of top goal scorers in Europe. Martin Thornberg - LW/RW - 6'0", 194 lbs (Age 30) - Projection: Bottom 6 checking winger - Thörnberg is a fast-skating winger. Plays an intense game and is efficient on the forecheck. Posesses a very good shot and decent hands overall. Likes going to the net and is defensively responsible. Sakari Salminen - LW/RW - 5'11", 159 (Age 25) - Projection: Bottom 6 scoring winger - A talented, left-handed winger. A good, agile skater with high-end offensive skills. A creative player with good passing and reliable scoring instincts. Not very large or physical but uses his hockey sense to compensate for it. Defensively weak. Sergei Mozyakin - LW - 5'10, 172 lbs (Age 33) - Projection: Second line scoring winger - A small right-handed winger with plenty of offensive skills. Good hands and understanding of the game. Has a very good wrist shot and excellent backhand. Fantastic stickhandling. A reliable point and goal scorer. A good skater who has upgraded his passing game in the last few seasons. Needs to improve his defensive game. Denis Grebeshkov - D - 6'1", 195 lbs (Age 30) - Projection: 2nd/3rd Pairing two way Defenceman - Grebeshkov is a solid defenseman with a promising offensive upside - He possesses impressive speed and great coordination - moves well through traffic and does not hesitate to mix it up with anybody – no matter the size or experience Notes: - The projections are not guaranteed, they could exceed their potential, or they could not reach their potential. Potentials are a rough estimate. - These players will only come overseas for the right deals
