Team USA cuts Brady Skjei and Steffan Matteau as per Mark Masters.

McCabe named captain, one cut left to make, depends on if Connor Murphy is healthy or not

canadas coach is worse than a/v and murphy over corrado was a bad choice
team canada wont go far if they take 9 penalties a game play hard play clean

I think Wotherspoon over Corrado was the bad choice. Murphy is a PP specialist but I think Sproul or Pouliot would be a better choice, with Reilly as 7D.

Harrington / Hamilton
Oullett / Reinhart
Corrado / Sproul/Pouliot
Reilly

Don't know if Jenner's history was factored in or not. It wasn't mentioned on the IIHF website though...

Canada forward Boone Jenner has been suspended three games at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship which opens in Ufa, Russia on Wednesday, 26 December.

Jenner was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct penalty for charging after a late hit on Swedish defenceman Jesper Pettersson in the second period of an exhibition game on 22 December in Helsinki, Finland.

The Swedish defenceman was carried off on a stretcher and was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and fractured wrist. Pettersson is out for the U20 World Championship.

In accordance with IIHF By-Law, Article 501, game misconducts, match penalties or any incidents that occur before, during or after pre-Championship exhibition games must be reported to the IIHF Disciplinary Committee for review and possible supplementary disciplinary measures.

The video material indicated that the hit was late and delivered with no intention to play the puck and with Pettersson being in a vulnerable position. The five-man IIHF Disciplinary Panel is of the opinion that the application of playing rule 552b (Charging) is correct and that it was Jenner’s intention to deliver the forceful check in spite of having the opportunity to at least make an attempt to avoid contact on Pettersson.

The hit was delivered far too late. This resulted in an injury to Sweden’s Pettersson and for this Jenner is to be held accountable.

Based on the video material as well as the referee’s report and the relevant game reports, and following a hearing, the panel came to the conclusion that the infraction was dangerous. It unanimously decided to suspend Jenner for the first three games of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship on 26 December against Germany, on 28 December against Slovakia and on 30 December against the United States.

The ten participating teams will register their championship rosters at the Tournament Directorate meeting on December 25 at 16:00 local Ufa time.

Subban starting, Drouin may be out

Yup, Malcolm Subban named Canada's starting goalie at world juniors:

Malcolm Subban has been handed the starting reins in net when Team Canada opens the World Junior Hockey Championship on Boxing Day in Ufa, Russia.

Hockey Canada announced on its Twitter account Tuesday the Belleville Bulls goaltender would be between the pipes as the Canadians square off with Team Germany in their first game of the tournament, while Owen Sound Attack goalie Jordan Binnington will back him up.

Subban, the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban, is a six-foot-two, 201-pound native of Toronto. He was in net for Canada in this year's summer series against the Russians, going 2-0 in the four-game set.

He's got a sparkling 2.17 goals-against average and .932 save percentage with the Bulls this year with a 15-7-3 record.

Saginaw Spirit netminder Jake Paterson is the team's alternate goalie.

Canada's path to a gold medal won't be easy, though. The Canadians are in a group with five other countries, including two gold-medal contenders in Russia and the United States, and they haven't won gold since 2009 in Ottawa.

They'll also have to overcome adversity as centre Boone Jenner was given a three-game suspension Monday by the International Ice Hockey Federation for a late hit that left Swedish defenceman Jesper Pettersson with a fractured wrist and dislocated shoulder.

The Canada's next game after Wednesday is Friday versus Slovakia.

It was pretty damn late by todays standards. But I personally think 1 - 2 games would have been more appropriate.

What an absolute joke....

Are you joking? That hit was super late. He deserves a suspension, especially if he thinks a hit is clean, no matter how late it is, as long as he has his shoulder down.

Oh Rome deserved a suspension but I don't think he deserved 4 games in the Stanley cup final, if it was regular season sure I'd say a least 4.

I think they should NOT hold any tournament in Russia or Europe so we Canadians can enjoy watching it live without exerting too much effort. i.e, waking up too early.
