Canada's biggest deficiency is the lack of a mean, crease clearing d-man.

I agree with the 6 guys that you chose will probably be selected but I'd personally feel better if Dumba was replaced with a bigger defensive presence. Unfortunately, there isn't someone in that mold who jumps out as the obvious choice this year.

What about Reinhart? He's pretty big, but not very mean I guess.

Duncan Siemens a Colorado 1st rounder can do a little bit of that.

That's not really Reinhart's game.

Duncan Siemens a Colorado 1st rounder can do a little bit of that.

Siemens I would be happy to have replace Murray because he is a solid two way player but also isn't the biggest or strongest guy. Plus, he's been playing way too many minutes in Saskatoon. I'd be worried about his fatigue factor.

Edit: If I had my choice I think I'd pick Cody Ceci to take that spot. Adam Pelech wouldn't be a bad choice either.

I don't think you've seen Dumba play very much. He isn't very big, but hits like a train, often.

I have seen Dumba play quite a bit.

He is a good hitter but he is definitely not a crease clearer. My concern with him is not his ability to lay the body it's in his defensive play. If Reilly and Murphy are on the team Dumba's offensive talents are not needed. What the team needs is a solid defender to replace Murray and the tougher the better, not a high risk player like Dumba.

I think Drouin has a chance to make it. The kid is fricken amazing. IMO Huberdeau - MacKinnon - Drouin should be a line for Canada. Those 3 played awesome together in the subway series. Finding chemistry is hard to do when you're throwing players like this together but those 3 guys have it.

Yea. I could see the line up looking something like this if RNH makes the team/if the lockout lasts the whole season

Huberdeau - RNH - Rattie
Strome - Scheifele - Jenner
Drouin - MacKinnon - Monahan
Danault - Domi - Shinkaruk

Murphy - Hamilton
Dumba - Harrington
Reilly - Reinhart

Subban
Fucale

Can't see that team not winning Gold.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Can't wait, gonna be great. Galchenyuk could sneak in and if JC Lipon keeps up the scoring he might too

Would be nice to see Lipon and/or Colin Smith from the Blazers...both guys are unreal, and how could you leave the top 2 scorers in the WHL off the list?

I'll play.

Huberdeau - Nugent-Hopkins - Rattie
Monahan- Strome - Ritchie
Danault - Scheifele - McNeill
Laughton- Jenner - Wilson
MacKinnon

Rielly - Hamilton
Harrington - Siemens
Ouellet - Ceci
Pouliot

Subban
Binnington

Sidebar: I think you could potentially flip MacKinnon and Rattie, but seems like MacKinnon is much better suited for C, and there may not be a chance here. Just doesn't seem smart to ignore his high-end skill when there is plenty of two-way play throughout the lineup. Also, my homer pick is to put Corrado in place of Pouliot, but I haven't seen him play enough to know. Seems like the kind of player Hockey Canada likes to have, but they are also super political and take the higher-touted guys more often than not.

Can't wait for camp and the tournament! Even more excited than usual, as I'm sure most can relate to.

Am I the only one surprised to see Griffith on the 3rd line? I would put McNeil ahead of him.

I'll Try. Mine is based on Chemistry/Roles (Bottom 6/Top 6) And having a good mix of size, Skill and Specialists.

Huberbeau - RNH - Strome
Drouin - Mackinnon - Rattie
McNeil - Jenner - Scheifele
Danault - Laughton - Wilson
Monahan

Quellet - Hamilton
Rielly - Harrington
Pouliot - Reinhart
Ceci

Subban
Binnington

- I think Pouliot will make it for sure, people will disagree with me on this but he is having a great season, He's at a PPG and is +17, and skillwise he's a greater skater, has unreal hockey sense. He is great at moving the puck up the ice quickly, that's important with all the skill we have this year.

- Drouin & Mackinnon are playing so well together that they have to be in the top 6 together IMO and adding a Sniper like Rattie would complete the line. Scheifele Should be in the Top 6 but again it's about roles and He is bigger and better defensively than Rattie so it is better to have Rattie in the top 6.

It'll be awesome if Nugent-Hopkins will be on Team Canada. Makinnon and RNH on the same team? That's scary!

Lets just assume there's no AHL stars on this team, which there very well could be

Huberdeau - Sheifele - Strome
Drouin - Mackinnon - Rattie
Monohan - Jenner - McNeill
Danault - Laughton - Wilson

Hamilton - Murphy
Dumba - Reinhart
Rielly - Pouliot
Ceci

Subban
Fucale

If RNH gets to play, I wonder if Couturier, Bealieu, Oleksiak and Morrow will too. Insanely stacked team.

Is Gaunce injured? Otherwise I'm not sure why the top Canadian draft pick from the last draft won't at least be considered for Canada's World Jr. team?

He was injured, and he was the top rated Canadian forward going into the draft, but was picked after Wilson and Laughton. He could get a crack at the 4th line LW/C job this year, but I expect him to be on the squad next year in a 3rd or 4th line role, depending on who moves on to the hypothetical NHL.

quick question for vancouverites:

considering the late game times (1am), will bars be open for the duration of the games? I will be visiting vancouver for the first time during the WJC and was hoping to watch at a fun place. also, if you have a bar suggestion somewhere near downtown, that would be much appreciated.

thanks!

I think Mackinnon will make it, and maybe Drouin, he's got insane hands, him and Mackinnon on a line with one of those other players would be deadly, they already play together on the mooseheads and light it up.

I think Mackinnon should make it. We've made some mistakes recently by leaving really good players off the roster just because they are young and we figure we are Canada so we should make em earn it. F that, let's win it. I'm thinking RNH on this one.
