Pears
Am I the only one that hasn't noticed Alex Galchenyuk this game? Edit: Nevermind. Just saw him
Smashian Kassian
I've been really impressed by the Jets drafting since they took over. Scheifele was taken way out of turn and looks to be paying off. Their next pick in that draft was Adam Lowry in the 3rd round who had a growth spurt after being picked and is now 6'5" and lighting it up in the WHL. Trouba is 6'2" with a 6'9" father and a 7"+ uncle, so it's possible that he could still be growing. Kosmachuk was a 3rd rounder in 2012 who is playing at over a PPG in Guelph, Ryan Olsen was their 6th round pick and is playing at just under a PPG in Kelowna and is also 6'2". They really seem to be going for size and they seem to scout well, although locally (no picks outside of NA in their first 2 drafts). I'm looking forward to this years draft especially with them having 6 picks in the first 90 and this being the deepest draft we've seen in awhile. SterlingArcher
Galchenyuk looked great vs Germany, but has been just fading away the last few games
Smashian Kassian
Really... That's slashing... It was a love tap that did nothing to affect the US player. I seriously hope the officiating is better for our game...

Smashian Kassian
If its anything like the game against Russia last year...even though I doubt reffing can get any worse than that.
Pears
Even some of the earlier calls have been brutal. We better hope it is better in our game, cause if there is a PP battle we will likely lose, our PP has looked disjointed, while the Russians has looked good and Yarullin's bomb is a serious weapon. Smashian Kassian
Yea I'm not looking forward to any penalty kill time. And holy penalties Batman...
Pears
The last few penalties have been legitimate calls, but even the infractions themselves haven't had much effect on the "victims" I guess and with such little time left in the game are they really worth calling? I don't think so.
Kyosama
I completely disagree, you have to make those calls at the end. Dano makes that slash and doesn't hurt the guy, fine, but you let him go and maybe he does it again and hurts a guy, maybe he pisses someone off and they retaliate and he gets injured. These calls at the end have to be made to make sure things don't get out of hand and to ensure there aren't any unnecessary injuries. North American refs do this all the time, it's pretty standard in blowout games.

Monteeun
Indeed, good sir, indeed. I hope we get the PP together - we'll need special teams to capitalize if we have any hope of staying pace with the Russians.
marinated.pea
lol I just saw the highlights a while ago on TSN. Good for Canada, happy for our stacked team :D
Smashian Kassian
If it is a special teams war, Russia has the clear advantage. (Unless something drastic has happened since the last game) Got to stay as discipline as possible, and when we are on the PK we have to cover the points. That is where all of Russia's offense comes from, they always try to work it up high and keep it up high, rarely do they attack from down low. This is going to be such a great game.
