here's the link
http://www.blick.ch/...-id2121144.html

considering that he is apparently half Swiss this means he counts as a Swiss player and they are still allowed to use 4 foreigners which is pretty huge over here.

hope he does better than Max Pacioretty. after all, Ambri is quite the bad team here in Switzerland. But since they had Schaefer as their no 1, it's safe to say he'll be the clear no 1 and will get lots of playing time

I'll definitely go and watch him play

It says nowhere that he has signed or when (end of December) he would. I think this is a very bold move for someone representing the NHLPA in the CBA dispute.

If he does leave soon it will show just how strong the NHLPA really is and its true colours.

the bold part states that he signed until end of december

also it says he beat out Luongo for the 1 in van and he is considered as a flexible butterfly goalie

@BradZiemer
Looks like Schneider will replace Nolan Schaefer as starter. He's the younger brother of former #Canucks winger Peter Schaefer.

It is the 26-year-old Cory Schneider, a Swiss-American dual citizen who is thus loaded the Immigration Quota of Ticino and not normally plays for the Vancouver Canucks.

Schneider debuted in 2008 in the NHL. In the last two seasons, he has established himself as getting better expectant backup of the famous Roberto Luongo. Schneider pointed out in the last season (33 games), a quota of 93.6 percent at 1.96 goals against per game on (three shutouts). He finished second in the respective rankings of the NHL places 2 third respectively In the playoffs, Schneider increased in three appearances even at impressive 96 percent thwarted shots and 1.31 goals per game.

The 1.88 m wide Schneider is considered extremely agile butterfly goalie. He had been in 2004 NHL Draft drawn in the first round by the Canucks. Ambris current main goalkeeper is the Canada-Swiss Nolan Schaefer. (Si

It does?

I don't see that particular statement anywhere in the translated article further down the page.

I think that's more about him not taking up an import spot on their roster. He can count as a Swiss player.

good job Cory, Ambri are struggling this year though, never actually seem to be relegated into the NLB though.. should be interesting to see if Schneider and Max Pacioretty develop some chemistry out there ;)

Schneider isn't half Swiss, he has dual citizenship because his grandfather was born there. (Source: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=409882)

But he has officially signed and is expected to join them for practice tomorrow. (Source: http://www.tsn.ca/nh...ory/?id=410434)

So he's signed until the end of December, but if the lockout ends in time to start games for the 15th, then he's going to miss 2 weeks of hockey? He can probably defect from the deal over there and come right back, I'm just curious as to how binding this deal is.

All things considered I guess it's not a horrible thing to have Luongo start for 2 weeks.

I neither have a specific desire for nor care how Swiss he is. I was simply pointing out the fact that he's 1/4 Swiss, not 1/2.

The freckles and the red hair combined with the fact that he's from Boston give me the sense that he's got some serious Irish in him.

best of luck over seas. Kind of worries me that a player rep decided to jump ship, doesn't sound too good.

for hockey to start on the 15th, a deal has to be signed within a week. That would provide a short week of training camp. Really don't see it being done by then. January is the earliest that we could see the NHL...
