considering that he is apparently half Swiss this means he counts as a Swiss player and they are still allowed to use 4 foreigners which is pretty huge over here.

hope he does better than Max Pacioretty. after all, Ambri is quite the bad team here in Switzerland. But since they had Schaefer as their no 1, it's safe to say he'll be the clear no 1 and will get lots of playing time

I'll definitely go and watch him play

It says nowhere that he has signed or when (end of December) he would. I think this is a very bold move for someone representing the NHLPA in the CBA dispute.

If he does leave soon it will show just how strong the NHLPA really is and its true colours.

the bold part states that he signed until end of december

also it says he beat out Luongo for the 1 in van and he is considered as a flexible butterfly goalie

@BradZiemer

Looks like Schneider will replace Nolan Schaefer as starter. He's the younger brother of former #Canucks winger Peter Schaefer.

I don't see that particular statement anywhere in the translated article further down the page.

good job Cory, Ambri are struggling this year though, never actually seem to be relegated into the NLB though.. should be interesting to see if Schneider and Max Pacioretty develop some chemistry out there ;)

I hear ya

seen Thornton/Nash (sluggish and lazy)...Spurgeon/Ennis (non factor) ...Spezza (spectacular) and Omark/Zetterberg/Brunner (unbelievable...DET fans will love that duo)

So he's signed until the end of December, but if the lockout ends in time to start games for the 15th, then he's going to miss 2 weeks of hockey? He can probably defect from the deal over there and come right back, I'm just curious as to how binding this deal is.

All things considered I guess it's not a horrible thing to have Luongo start for 2 weeks.

His name is Schneider, he has red hair and looks like a typical farmer's son, how much more Swiss do you want?! :)

The freckles and the red hair combined with the fact that he's from Boston give me the sense that he's got some serious Irish in him.
