Kansas City Chiefs Jovan Belcher Kills Girlfriend, Then Self.

Such an awful story. I don't know that the Chiefs organization can make a right decision on how to handle this. You know they are probably debating it, as we speak. No one can really be prepared for a thing like this. Impressed they are still taking the field.

Thoughts are with the families and that little girl. So sad. =(

I feel so sad thinking about their son having to grow up knowing how his parents died.

Agree with you 100%.

In all honesty I hope that the Chiefs don't have a tribute to him. How would his girlfriends family feel seeing the man who killed a loved one being honoured after death?

If anything, they should have a tribute to his girlfriend.

Moment of silence was held for victims of domestic violence. I feel this was the appropriate way to address everything.

No more photos of Belcher. Honour the memory of Kassandra Perkins. Apparently she was shot 9 times in front of her own mother (as per TSN).

Anyone else find it a little creepy that this wasn't the first murder/suicide in the Chiefs organization?

The University of Maine head coach described Belcher as "very soft-spoken, an absolute gentleman" and said that he seemed like he was "very much in control of himself" in 2008.

It's actually disturbing to read some of the comments former teammates and coaches have made, and how some people are trying to still paint him in a positive light.

Like seriously?

A real loving family guy doesn't kill his baby's mother.

I can't even fathom why people are trying to speak highly of him. If he had not committed suicide, and was in jail right now, I am almost certain nobody would be doing this.

I think it's a case of disbelief more than people trying to pay tribute to him.

Paying for a murderers funeral. Glad to see they have offered to help the Perkins family as well, but this has t be a slap in the facew to offer to cover his.

The Kansas City Chiefs organization is paying for Jovan Belcher's funeral arrangements ... and has offered financial assistance to Kasandra Perkins' family as well ... TMZ has learned.

Sources directly involved with the situation tell us ... the Chiefs have made it clear they don't want either family to be stuck with the massive bills stemming from the funerals or memorial services.

We're told members of Belcher's family -- which now has custody of the couple's orphaned newborn baby -- graciously accepted the offer ... and the team will cover all of the costs of Belcher's memorial in KC and funeral in NY.

It's unclear if Perkins' family has accepted the offer as well.

When called for comment, a rep for the Chiefs told us, "We are assisting both families with arrangements ... We just prefer not to get into specifics of what we are doing or have done."

Calls to the Belcher and Perkins families have not been returned.
