Tuna
If the NHL Lockout lasts an entire year, how will the 2013 draft work? One of my coworkers says it will be in the same order as the previous one but that seems a bit ridiculous that Edmonton would get another 1st overall pick... I assume that the draft order would be completely random which would be awesome because we'd have a shot at our first ever 1st overall pick. Does anybody know the answer to this? Ossi Vaananen
These threads must be weekly... In other words there is another thread about this, so please search. To answer your question, each team is given 3 'balls' if you will. A ball is subtracted if a team has had a playoff appearance in the last 3 years. A ball is subtracted if a team had a #1 pick in the last 3 years. Every team would have a shot at the #1 pick, but the team with the most balls has the greatest likelihood of landing the pick. There are only 5 or so teams that would have 3 balls. The Canucks are not one of these teams, and the Canucks would only have 1 ball. There is a full run down in one of the other posted threads, search there.
Smashian Kassian
Draft Lottery, like in 2005.
Zoolander
yeah, it's a draft lottery if the season is cancelled, I'd actually prefer a draft lottery because that means we have a 2% chance of getting the 1st overall pick, and Mackinnon 2% is better than no chance at all. Hobble
It's not like any Canadian team is going to win the lottery anyways.

James van Riemsdyk
It'll probably be like the snake again so if you get 1st overall you get 60th overall and 61st. Also there will be balls which need to be picked out like a lottery system.

thad
If the season is lost, Vancouver gets jones and mackinnon. the 29 other owners have a chili cook off judged by wellwood and byfugelin to determine the rest of the leagues draft order.
