AND THE QUEBEC REMPARTS ADVANCE TO THE MEMORIAL CUP FINAL

Quebec scored early, and often. Quebec scored two in the first period and went on to take a 4-0 lead with 14 minutes to go in the third, when Portland cut the lead to 4-1. That would be as close as they would get as Quebec advances to their third ever Memorial Cup Final, looking to win their second Memorial Cup in history, with the home fans cheering them on.

Pasha Ivashin, former QMJHL Player of the Year and candidate to win for his second time in his career, coming into the semifinal leading the Tournament with 5 goals and 10 points, was injured early on and will be gone for the Memorial Cup Final. Ivashin will be a huge loss for the Remparts but they will have to play without him and try and bring home the Cup.

Quebec will play Sarnia in the Memorial Cup Final as the Host team will face the OHL Champions. Sarnia won, 4-3 in overtime when the two teams last met in the round robin.

2015 MEMORIAL CUP FINAL

1st Period:

2nd Period:

SAR - Charles Sarault [4] (Murphy, Goldobin)

3rd Period:

Final Score - Quebec 0 Sarnia 3

THE SARNIA STING ARE THE 2015 MEMORIAL CUP CHAMPIONS

Sarnia scored early, and would not back down. Charles Sarault opened the scoring with his team leading 3rd goal, just 1:48 into the game and that proved to be the game winner. Sarault later added his second of the game, team leading 4th to give Sarnia a commanding 3-0 lead and that is all JP Anderson would need as he went on to make 24 saves for the shutout. Quebec as a team did not play like the team that dominated the round robin, not once losing in regulation until the Final. One can imagine what the game would have been like had Ivashin not been injured.

Congratulations to the Sarnia Sting on their first ever Memorial Cup title!

Congratulations to PASHA IVASHIN and PHILIPPE ZARRGON on playing the last CHL games of their career! The CHL would like to congratulate the two players for a storied CHL career, lasting over 3 years. It's a shame Ivashin was injured for the biggest game of his life, the Memorial Cup Final. The CHL wishes Zarrgon and Ivashin best of luck in their individual NHL careers!
