No...It's been bad for almost the last 6 or 7 years..so yeah..it's WAY past its prime. Sorry. Besides that there is no way in hell that The Simpsons was the best tv show over the last 10 years.

There's no way House was either.

It hasn't been bad over the last 10 years. Only the last few. So yeah it was still in it's prime for a good chunk of the last 10 years.

it's prime was the late nineties. maybe as late as 2002, but not much longer than that, as it went downhill while i was still in university. it's been the lions share of the past 10 years that it has been on the decline/absolutely sucked.

the problem with the poll is that people were voting having never seen game of thrones.

Well I didn't vote at all, but I'm pretty sure some of the shows on whatever poll it was people have not seen either.

Maybe it did to you, but not everyone. I enjoyed the show up until about the time of the movie in 07, and I still occasionally watched it after that.

It won this tourney, so I'm not the only one that thought so.

I read the books so I alway voted for it if I haven't seen the other show.

I have several tables you can flip if you need to vent.

It won this tourney, so I'm not the only one that thought so.

Critics' reviews of early Simpsons episodes praised the show for its wit, realism, and intelligence. In the late 1990s, around the airing of season ten, the tone and emphasis of the show began to change. Some critics started calling the show "tired". By 2000, some long-term fans had become disillusioned with the show and pointed to its shift from character-driven plots to what they perceived as an overemphasis on zany antics. The BBC noted "the common consensus is that The Simpsons' golden era ended after season nine", while Todd Leopold of CNN, in an article looking at its perceived decline, stated "for many fans [...] the glory days are long past." Jim Schembri of the The Sydney Morning Herald called the show "a cultural touchstone for at least two—possibly three—generations of couch potatoes", but claimed that the show has declined in quality. He attributed this decline in quality to an abandonment of character-driven storylines in favour of and overuse of celebrity cameo appearances and references to popular culture. Schembri wrote: "The central tragedy of The Simpsons is that it has gone from commanding attention to merely being attention seeking. It began by proving that cartoon characters don't have to be caricatures; they can be invested with real emotions. Now the show has in essence fermented into a limp parody of itself. Memorable story arcs have been sacrificed for the sake of celebrity walk-ons and punchline-hungry dialogue."

Well that's your opinion. Many people liked the majority of the last 10 seasons, which would explain why Simpsons won this tournament.

I can think of several other reasons why the played out Simpsons won a tournament on CDC. Has a lot to do with the juvenile nature of the humor.

A critic's report, he must be right!

Yeah the show isn't as good as it used to be, but it was still good up until a few seasons ago imo. That's exactly what all this is, opinion. Your opinion and my opinion are just as valid as the next person's.

Well, usually in a democracy the majority is the one that gets elected.

And I mean the world over, not a CDC poll...

I'm agreeing with you.

I would disagree, but I have to charge up my argument for four episodes first.

Take me for example, I enjoy American Dad and (early) Family Guy (the newer they are the worst they get...) and I also enjoyed Ted. No one will agree with me here but whatever, they make me laugh.

I watch Simpons still, it has it's moments, but I personally think it's far from the best show on television.

In fact, and this is something I say often, there is no such thing as 'best' anything really, no 'best' tv show, no 'best' guitarist, no 'best' pie eater, it's more like 'personal favorite'.

I dunno bout the rest of you, but I wasn't voting for the past years, but as a complete show. So if Seinfeld was a show until 2002, I would have voted for that one based on its entire show length.
