Strombone1
From Iain MacIntyre @imacVanSun: Great news. Alex Edler cleared from injured list. Back good, but may never be 100%. Bad news. . . uh, lockout. @imacVanSun: Edler said he would have happily traded his paycheques the last 3 mos to feel good and be healthy. Back injury sucks. hockeyville88
Great news. Going back to the Kesler thread, this news about Edler is proof against what people are saying about how Kesler and his agent are faking injury symptoms so that he can stay on the payroll during the lockout. If Edler can be medically cleared mid-lockout so can Kesler. The fact that Kesler is still on LTIR is only because there must be tangible proof that he is still unable to play. 73 Percent
If that's a shot at Edler then just ignore this. I got into a serious car accident, shattered my pelvis and underwent emergency surgery last month. Specialists said I may never been 100% again no matter what I do. It's common with serious injuries. n00bxQb
You may be right but they are also in different positions with regards to their contracts. Edler actually neeeds to come off the injury list if he wants to get a good payday on his next contract, which is up this year. Kesler still has years left so being on the Injured list doens't hurt him in the longterm as it would Edler.
spliced
Edler was one of the few bright spot for the future of this team but things just seem to be going downhill. Hopefully it turns around. I sure hope the Canucks don't end up signing him to a big contract only to have him be perpetually injured.
MattJVD
Yup, insurance fraud. Every NHL player wants to risk the $20M+ remaining on his contract just so he can get paid for 3 months ...

n00bxQb
They're not going to get charged with insurance fraud... This isn't like people going on disability and getting caught out golfing with their buddies. In hockey, you're going out there every other night and getting knocked around by 200+ pound guys. So the definition of being healthy is alot different. Just cause he feels alright doesn't mean he's gonna rush back and risk re-injuring his shoulder. The rules are alot different, and nobody can tell him to clear himself but him, because ultimately it's his career he has to think about. He's taking his time, there's nothing wrong with that. What would be the point of rushing back? There's not even hockey right now. It's just like Salo magically being ready after Malhotra went down, these things aren`t a coincidence. It happens all the time in hockey.
