actually, the whole interview is amazing

Just read the interview, I totally read it in a drunk Mancunian accent!

When I saw AF in Manchester they broke out in to Wonderwall I think it was.

Time for my top 12 albums of 2013:

1. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Push the sky away

I surprised myself with how much i enjoyed this. Had never really got into Nick Cave before. But this album clicked from the get-go, and Im still not tired of it. Mellow, meaningful, well crafted, etc

2. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

This album has lived in the car CD player since it was released. Great hooks, as you would expect, and an eclectic mix of moody songs, experimental songs, and dance pop songs.

3. Hayden - Us Alone

One the most underrated artists of the last 20 years, here he delivers again. Touching raw folk rock at its best. And hes a master live if you ever get to see him.

4. Bill Callahan - Dream River

Had never even heard of him until a month ago, and this album already makes my #4 slot. Great voice, lyrics, and interesting slice of americana.

5. Bear Mountain - XO

What a find this was. First album from this Vancouver electronica/pop band. Every song is catchy and hook ridden.

6. Sigur Ros - Kveikur

Grew on me with every listen and became regular bed time music. A more edgy effort by Sigur Ros, and still moving. Their best since Takk.

7. Edwyn Collins - Understated

Remember the 'A Girl like you' song from the Empire Records Soundtrack? Well he makes albums and hes been doing it for a while. This is one of his best.

8. Ben Lee - Ayahuasca

This album got no attention, had trouble even finding a good image. Lee here veers away from his usual straight ahead pop, and infuses world music, instrumentals, and other singers. Interesting and enjoyable.

9. Brendan Canning - You Gots 2 Chill

A late year addition for me from this core Broken Social Scene member. A really nice pleasant warm fuzzy collection of acoustic songs. Feels like hes just noodling on his front porch and recorded it, yet it works.

10. Eels - Wonderful, Glorious

My first impression was this this album is really spotty and far from one of his best. I still think that. But the songs that i do like, i like so much and listened to so much, and i simply had to give this album a spot.

11. Volcano Choir - Repave

Its not as good as Bon Iver, but everything Justin Vernon touches is moving. For a side project, its pretty good.

12. Fuzz - Fuzz

Good psychedelic rock.

What does Pitchfork know?

Push The Sky Away didn't even make their top FIFTY albums of the year!

(List not released, but album is in 'honorable mentions'.)

last 2 or 3 years P4K has been so heavily invtested in R&B and pop music, which is really weird to me. Like, did Ciara really get in the top 5 best tracks of 2013? Reeeeally? The lyrics and autotune just make this song seem so cheesy and dated already.

As much as I liked that Drake album, did he really release the best song of 2013?!

At least the Autre Ne Veut song is a unique spin on R&B tradition

As an Atheist....I disapprove of most music in this last year.

The Gossip and The Heavy though are good, if you're an atheist I guess that is

finally got my hands on the newest Ty Segall (Sleeper). Really not enjoying it as much as his other stuff, which is unfortunate, because I've read some good reviews and knew Segall was going through a "rough patch" or whatever. I had high hopes. Good musician + emotional instability = music gold, usually.

To me, 2013 was a bit of a let down after 2012. Very few releases that I can say that I loved. I'm crossing my fingers for a strong bounce back in 2014

Yeah, it will pick up quickly for me with the new Broken Bells album, After The Disco, coming out next month.

really? i thought the first half of 2013 was stronger than the entire of 2012

what did you like from 2012 so much?

(granted, i still think Lonerism is better than anything in this or any other recent year)

MY top 5 albums of 2013

1. Nothing Was The Same- Drake
2. Because The Internet- Childish Gambino
3. Magna Carta Holy Grail- Jay Z
4. Marshall Mathers LP2- Eminem
5. Yeezus- Kanye West

#3 and #4 can be swapped with one another depending on what I'm into at the time.

Side note: I didn't include GKMC because I consider that an album from 2012. For some reason a lot of people consider it a 2013 album, but it defently was #1 in 2012.

Tame Impala, Killer Mike, Grimes, Mac Demarco all put out albums I still love and listen to regularly. I know there were more but I had my laptop stolen in the summer so I lost all of my music.

Nothing I've heard this year has really compared to some of the albums from 2012 imo.
