It's unfair to compare Henrik and Toews at this point. Toews is 24, and Henrik is 32. At Toews age, Henrik was only putting up 30-40 points, whereas Jon's been consistently at 50-70 points since he entered the league.

If I'm a team with the 3rd overall pick, and I'm choosing between an 18 year old Hank and an 18 year old Toews, I'd take Toews, for sure. He developed faster, and is better defensively and physically.

Unparalleled obvious answer; Michael Jordan! :bigblush:
From the list I'm going with Huberdeau.

Huberdeau has the most upside/potential, Duchene is the best pick if your season started tomorrow.

OMG we could've had McKeown!

I think Virtanen was a terrible pick given that he's out for 6 months which will hinder his development. You don't pick someone at #6 under that circumstance, along with the fact that he was given a 3/5 IQ (aka he's dumb).

God dammit Benning. WHY VIRTANEN? Terrible move.

Down by the River - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

Toews steps up for the big games. I love hank but he needed to put the puck in the net against Boston for me to take him over JT.

RG3!

Still no love for Turris?

I'm curious as to who chose Bogosian, and why.

Obviously right now its Duchene, but Huberdeau has scary potential and I reckon he'll out-shine Duchene eventually.

Absolutely. Im gonna be completely honest and say Huberdeau in 3-4 years will be up there with the very best in the league.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Everytime I see that stat I am baffled at how we got it to 7 games in the first place. Thank god for Luongo, it's too bad he is getting run out of town now...

I think Huberdeau will be the best out of those, so I'm taking him over Duchene and then Gudbranson.

As for the Henrik vs Toews talk...Toews may not have his offensive genius, but he's much younger and outproduces Hank at his age, is incredible defensively and a gritty, clutch leader. The epitome of an all-around elite hockey player with the bling to boot. Plus, he's not even 25.

Ummm... Hank?

It's arguable, but for now and the future Toews is the better option.

i'd easily take toews over hank.. better skater, better defensively, better scorer not playmaker, and most importantly he's clutch and developed way faster than hank and he's not even into his prime yet.

Do you even know who Toews is? He's an Olympic Gold Medal winner, World Junior Gold Medal winner, and a Stanley Cup winner. All won before he turned 24 years old. As big of a fan as I am of Henrik I'd take Toews over him any day of the week.

Olympics - Not a key player for this tournament, mostly 4th line center.
World Jr's - Irrelevent to NHL success.
Stanley Cup - Obviously important, but more to do with an absolutely stacked team than his individual dominance.

Since the Hawks' cup win, Henrik has 175 regular season and 27 playoff points to JT's 133 regular season and 8 playoff points.

Not meaning to discredit Toews, since he's a fantastic player. And if I were building a long-term team I'd probably take him over Henrik too - but not because he's a better player - simply because he has a lot more hockey left in him. The best for him may still be coming (which may be better than the best of Henrik in the end).

1. Denis Savard
2. Scott Niedermayer

Honorable Mention - Hank, Toews, Reggie Leach (one of my all-time faves!), Mike Foligno.

From the past 6 years - Duchesne, but, it's rally too early to make a judgement today.

The best ever No.3 is Dennis Savard , 473 goals and 1336 says it all.

Honourable mentions for Pat la fontaine and Scott Niedermayer .

If each of the players you have listed lives up to their full potential , then i choose Erik Gudbranson .

Edit , did not see hugemanskosts post , right on brother :)

Unrealistic expectations and he was expected to achieve those unrealistic expectations.
