Chris Higgins is one of those players who can play in any situation and on any line which got me thinking, Which line is the best fit for Chris Higgins? (With the roster we have right now.)

No matter which line he seemed to play on last year, he seemed to make them better...but his best fit was definitely the 2nd line.

I would say 3rd, just based on how effective Higgins / Lapierre / Hansen could be. But as Yap said, he did look good on the second.

If we get an expensive 30 goal scorer to play with Kesler and Booth, Higgins can easily join the 3rd line and bring some offense to it, and compliment other players like Hansen and Lappy...

3rd.

He has the skill to play on the 2nd but his grit & two way play could be a huge asset on the 3rd with Hansen. Especially if Kassian or someone else can grab the 2nd line spot.

I think Kassian would serve better in a 3rd line role for now*, let him really get his NHL legs.

I think he can play 2nd or 3rd line, but he was super good with Kesler, because he would pass to him.

Him, Kesler and Booth looked great at times. But Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen sounds like a damn good third line to me, so I'd have to say third. But I'd also say that he's our sixth best forward at the moment.

He should play on the second line unless we get another top 6 forward. For right now, he will make the team better if he is used on the second line.

I love the sound of him playing on the third line of we can get a top six forward for Luongo.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Player from Luongo trade
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen
Volpatti - Malhotra - Kassian

Solid.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

He is a 2nd/3rd line tweener, but I see him being most useful on the 3rd line.

The Canucks are lucky to have Higgins, and also have him at a very reasonable cap hit.

I'd have him on the 2nd, but Raymond can't play on the third. I feel like he works well on the 3rd line.

I Like These Lines myself,
However using these would require another RW, which we unfortunately dont have.

And although I would love Kassian to be on our roster he is clearly not dominant enough at the AHL level to be in our top 6 - and his development would only be hampered at this stage by him playing 4th or even 3rd line minutes.

Offence:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

S.S. Burrows

Booth Kesler ?

Higgins Lapierre Hansen

Raymond Malhotra Weise/Volpatti/Desbiens/Pinizzotto

Defence:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hamhuis Bieksa

Edler Garrison

Alberts/Ballard Tanev

Goalies:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Schneids

Luo

My possibilities of filling that 2nd line RW spot (which lets be honest is a huge hole in our current roster) would be:

Dainus Zubrus or David Clarkson from the Devils or perhaps Parenteau or Okposo from The Islanders through a Luongo and/or Ballard trade.

PS:
I think the Devils are a fringe team on the luongo 'sweepstakes.'
And,
I think the Islanders are looking for a puck moving, powerplay capable, d-man and could look at Ballard as a cheap solution - in terms of what they would have to give up: possibly one of the aforementioned for ballard and 3rd-5th rounder.

I dono if it's because of his illness but he looked tired on the second and looked more dangerous on the third. So I'd say third.

Perfect 3rd liner, a contender shouldnt be putting him on a 2nd. Can be really good in a checking/minor scoring role, was beyond brutal vs LA though.

I adore the Higgins Lapierre Hansen trio there is no better third line then this if these guys play playoff hockey. I love them and i am confident that if u give them a solid amount of games to regain their connection with one another we will dominate with are bottom 6.

On the last year of his deal. Since there's no hockey this year, hopefully we can re-sign him for the same price.
I personally think he's most effective as an energy 3rd line grinder who can score.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - ???
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen
Raymond - Malhotra - Kassian

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Ballard - Tanev/Alberts

Schneider
Lack

The missing piece comes either from/in the Luongo trade of course, the bottom two lines are a lot stronger on offence than they have been in the past.. Bet we score a butt load of goals, and no need to worry about GA with Schneids in net. Question is what player do we get to play with Kes and what our roster will even look like next season? A lot of our players may not even be here.

Can't wait to see what happens, either way. I think anybody Florida can offer us would be of service, what would you think of trading Edler to them if he doesn't want to resign?? Something like; Luongo and Edler for Versteeg, Ellerby and a 1st round draft pick? Edler would be wicked with Campbell, and the forward combination of Booth, Kesler and Versteeg would be about the best second line we could get! Although it would obviously really suck to see Edler go, I'd only trade him if he didn't want to stay here. What better way than to package him with Lu, you can't say Florida wouldn't be a way better team with these two making an immediate impact.

EDIT: In regards to Higgs, I personally think he goes best on the 3rd line. Him, Lappy and Hansen make a killer grinding line to agitate the opposition. Be great on the forecheck and could contribute offensively as well, so why change what works? :P

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. i like higgins a lot for his versitility, but he stands out most as a third liner who can play top 6 minutes in case of injury. i say enjoy

seeing him play while hes here cause barring a huge setback jensen will be ready to take higgins' spot next year. (higgins'

contract is up after this year, and if jensen is ready then higgins most likely wont be resigned unless he takes a huge discount to stay)

Am I being a bit of a turd reminding everyone we traded for him to play 4th line, with the ability to move up the line up in the event injuries? Maybe we have more for him, but that is the ideal scenario.

His work rate is world class, but as even now people keep asking for ANOTHER trade to get a winger for Kesler??? That rules him off the second, and he's not displacing Booth on the LW anyway.

So, we should be very fortunate to have as a depth player but not rely on him for top six. And to me, he is big enough to handle himself, not big enough to assert himself. So if matched with Hansen, I'm only happy with him on the 3rd line if we get a big centre (Arnott, better if Manny returns to form) who evens out size match ups. Last year our 3rd line, stopper version, was too small. So he has a place on the third if other pieces fall in to place...

Parenteau signed with the Avs in the off season, so a deal for him with the Isles doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon...

To respond to OP's question, Higgins would look great on third with Max and Hansen.

You're lineup looks pretty good but, before trading Luongo for a 2nd line winger wouldn't it be better waiting to see if a replacement for a 2nd line centre is required.Kesler has undergone some serious surgeries and rehab yet everyone is under the illusion he will be able to return and command his old position.
I believe we should wait and see how he shapes up before making trades for other positions.Just in case.

3rd, when he is the main scorer on his line, hes a beast, and when hes playing with kes and booth, he's not the primary option to score. He fits perfectly beside lappy n hansen
