Didnt he also notch two shutouts in the finals as well?

Always will love and support Cody Hodgson, great player, great potential great character, and I don't care about those stupid rumours about the trade. And we lost him, what a dissapointment. Love you COHO, forever a canuck in my heart!

One day Luongo will raise Lord Stanley's cup.
And show all those haters that he is the amazing goalie that he is.
No matter what jersey he wears, I will always be cheering for Luongo.

Forever Believe.

He certainly did and he was brilliant in doing so. This however also speaks volumes about his inconsistency issues, no one can be sure which Luongo will show up on a game to game basis in the playoffs. He either looks like a God between the pipes or a frightened little girl pissing her pants.

Meh. If I had to pick an MVP from the Canucks that series, I would pick Luongo.

As bad as he was, he was still our best player that series.

Didn't Henrik have like 1 point that entire series?

Anyways, it's much easier to fault the goaltender than it is to fault the team. That is why you are wrong and your opinion is invalid. You just want a quick fix.

Careful with sound, logical, to-the-point posts around here. You will get picked on.

I would have given the MVP to Rome. Undefeated with him.

The entire team looks like frightened little girls pissing their pants sometimes. No Rome, no Hamhuis, no scoring, broken back in Raymond, Burrows finger biting, Kesler embellishing, bitch slapping of Daniel by a rookie without any immediate response... The whole series was a disaster and Luongo pulls out two shutouts. Who's to blame?

Well Luongo of course. It wouldn't be in Vancouver's fashion to think otherwise.

How about AV's philosophy of "making them pay on the power play"? What if there aren't any power plays to make them pay by? Which historically, is the case for playoff hockey.

Put Thomas in the Canucks goal and we probably outscore Boston 23-8.

In your dreams mate.

If Thomas had been in the Canucks goal a) Boston wins in straight games B) Thomas is a chuntering wreck for the remainder of his life hidden away in some rest home and getting therapy.

You just don't get it do you? ................For most of the season Luongo IS THE DEFENCE!

And more to the point the team's consistency.

We need to realise that the defence needs to turn up regularly and not rely on us out scoring the opposition while Luongo keeps the score down at the other end.

Honestly I can't wait to see CS play behind this D every night. Jeez I hope there is medical help on standby.

I'm talking about the playoffs in general, not just the Boston series. The points you referenced above did not apply in all the series in which Luongo was fantastic in one game, and melting down the next.

Let's face it, Boston were goons and we were used to the way the ref's were calling it all year. They changed what constituted a penalty, and we didn't/couldn't adjust, thus, our scoring dried up. I imagine Luongo let this realization affect him, because I know it affected me and all the fans. Conspiracy shmiracy you say? It happened, we all saw it.

That's why I think Moneyball doesn't work. The regular season and the playoffs are drastically different. No one can deny how good the Canucks are during the regular season. But expecting status quo during the playoffs renders atrocities like the last three years of playoff hockey for such a team. There are some incalculable tangibles that manifest themselves during the playoffs that are seldom seen during the regular season.

AV doesn't adapt his team for the playoffs. He's "sticking to the process" of the regular season but the process drastically changes during the playoffs, to the point that in the playoffs, it is an entirely different process.

Luongo or anyone else in net will have the same result if the regular system is not altered for the playoffs or perhaps even a brand new blueprint as the series develop.

I strongly believe this is why Luongo is putting out shutouts and blowouts throughout the playoffs and I believe Schneider will not fair any better.

It doesn't work having players who get injured.
Hamhius, Kesler, Daniel - these guys gotta go.
Get us some guys that are made of iron
Better yet, steel. Better yet, carbon steel alloy 1090.
Actually diamond. A roster of skating diamonds.

Both Burke and Gillis have stated there is no deal for Luongo. Toronto doesn't want Luongo. Only Nonis is salivating at this possibility.

WOWZZZ - that is one hell of a severe overpayment.

That's like paying $20 for a McDonald's cheeseburger.

Schneider is worth that return alone, and I'd still say no, because Phaneuf sucks, and he's waaaaay overpaid for a guy that would be our third pairing left side guy. Yes, King, I still believe he isn't as good as Hamhius nor Edler. Just a bad fit in so many ways.

Agreed. It is not AV's team.Gillis has the responsibility of putting the show on ice.
Getting Zach to play top six next year or the year after ain't going to deal with the reality, although it is one small step in that direction.

Kesler was lucky to score 20 this year since the injury to Morrison allowed him to do so.

I doubt Kesler would ever break 15 goals in his career again.

I have a problem with giving a free pass to a player who's largest question mark is his ability to work hard. For me he starts on the 4th and is told work you but off or your back in Chicago, outwork everyone and you will move up the lines.

Edit: why are we talking about this in a Lou topic?

This is such a weak argument used tirelessly by Lu lovers. Did you actually watch the Gold Medal game when everything was on the line? Luongo was described multiple times as appearing 'shakey' in goal and if if wasn't for the team playing solidly in front of him and limiting scoring chances it may have had a different outcome. I would say that Lu choked in that big game as well, he just had a better supporting cast to bail him out so it wasn't a blowout.

Here is the link to the whole game.

https://www.youtube....h?v=0mLPOsflZCE

last time i checked they had the same line up playing infront of them. limiting the chances against Lu? so you're saying they purposely gave up scoring chances to Broduer but then Lu came in and they said whoa better not give up chances he sucks? bottom line the coaching staff thought Lu gave them a better chance to win and did exactly that.
