GLASSJAW
I loved Event Horizon as a kid. I re-watched it last year and was horrified at how bad it is. I even went into it telling my friend, "oh we should watch this, it's good!" and then feeling utterly embarrassed the whole time "...well, it was good"
Pears
The Martian - 7.5-8/10 Didn't have time to see it until Wednesday night but it was worth the wait. Loved most of the story and Matt Damon was hilarious.
The Bookie
Amy - 8/10 Should be infinity out of 10, she seemed pretty ageless. I didn't really know anything about Amy Winehouse before watching this - I knew her one big song, and a vague general reputation from celebrity culture osmosis. Some bulbs burn too bright. Monty
Watched a lot of movies, but I've forgotten most of them, as they were all pretty terrible. Like, Kickass 2 - 0/10 Nothing remotely redeemable about this. Absolutely terrible.

While Sunshine was not without its flaws, it was a lot more enjoyable than Event Horizon, which is so, so awful.

The Bookie
Slightly off-topic (in Off-Topic!) but after watching that Amy Winehouse doc I picked up her first album. It's quite good. Has a bit of a throwback 90s funk-jazz sound. What a shame that she passed away before the hip hop supergroup she was planning (her, Questlove, Mos Def and someone else, I forget)
Monty
As per a recommendation from D-Money quite a while ago, finally watching Mighty Aphrodite. So far, so good. Mira Sorvino, where have you gone?
Monty
Mighty Aphrodite - 9/10 Can't believe I avoided this for so long. Definitely owe D-Money a thanks for reminding me that this existed. Seriously, aside from Mira Sorvino being a born again Christian, where has "this" actress been hiding for so long? She really knocked it out of the park in this role. While Allen gets a ton of credit for the writing, Sorvino's portrayal of a porn actress/hooker was so likable. Really wanted the best for her. HC20.0
Toy Story: 10/10. Watched this the other day with my girlfriend. Holy crap I forgot how good it was. It was hilarious! Back when Pixar put effort into their movies. *Cough Cars 2 cough* Also, a lot of hidden adult humour! Avengers: Age of Ultron: 3/10 Not nearly as good as it's predecessor. Convoluted plot that was ridiculously hard to follow, made no sense, and I hated the romance in the movie. The special effects were the redeeming quality for me. Xmen Days of Future's past: 6/10. Fixed everything wrong with X-Men 3, and the special effects were amazing. However, the story was average, and going back in time to stop machines from taking over has been done before, and done better. *Cough Terminator Cough* Edited December 6, 2015 by HC20.0

Yeah, it was hilarious. It's weird when a generally average/poor actor/actress like Sorvino gets the right part/director/etc., and just nails it...only to go right off a cliff for the rest of their career, Cuba Gooding Jr. style. Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion wasn't too bad. But otherwise, she has been in nothing memorable. Unless you count The Replacement Killers or At First Sight, which I don't. The Bookie
The One I Love - 7.5/10 This is how I like my rom-coms: morally questionable, unsettling, surreal, philosophical. with just a pinch of Ted Danson. (note: I am not a good judge of rom-coms, but this was still a good movie, in its own way)

falcon45ca
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 The quintessential adaptation of Frank Miller's 80's classic, if you're a Batman fan it's must watch...even my wife enjoyed it. Animation is great, action is punchy & real, voice acting is top notch...frankly it's probably the best Batman screen adaptation, makes Nolan & Burton's versions look campy by comparison. 9/
riffraff
Backcountry filmed in north bay ontario. Based on a true events. Couple goes camping and encounters a hungry bear. it was better than I thought it would be. The actors Ive never heard of were convincing and held down a movie with basically just them in it. bear attack special effects were awesome and relative to animal attack movies, the best I've seen. I was rendered uncomfortable and squirming in my seat a bit. a bit of a lesson in it too. Taking basic camping trips albeit in slightly remote locations for granted can be costly on many levels. Should be obvious but...... 7/
