A 48-game season is detrimental to the Canucks

The Canucks are gonna do fine, now I don't expect them to explode out of the gate.. But I do think they will do better than an October performance, they know what's at stake and maybe they'll be excited to be a part of their very first shortened season. This could be the year boys, let's get ready to Ruummbbbllleee!! :P

EDIT: You see what I did there, it's called Enthusiasm- you should try it once in a while Mr. Reputable. lol

Boo-hoo. Not a new phenomenon. Vancouver's geographic location hasn't changed, ever. This whole "travel schedule" BS is a Mike Gillis creation that we simply did not hear about very much prior to his arrival.

And let's not forget the flipside of the location; the fact that we're at an advantage when visitors have to fly all the way in to play us. But of course, that is also never discussed. Only the excuses.

OMG LMAO seriously with milk coming out of my nose even. Phenomenon !?! WTF are you talking about ? Mike Gillis did not start any travel BS. The hard facts show the truth. Is there even any point in trying to explain? Never mind the cold hard numbers of our team travel but all the analysts and players all agree that we have the hardest travel schedule in the league. Do you know how far it is from Van to Cal, EDM, Minn or COL ? What about CBJ or DET ? They all have teams hundreds of miles/KMS closer. We are the farthest from any other team in the league Edm is a close second. Our division is the most traveled in the league.

Nope vanfan, Gillis.org made this all up.

It's a ruse - contrived by the scheming minds of excuse makers and spin doctors.

All of us real people who travel 11 minutes to work everyday know that this travel myth, these jetlag effects, the time zone changes, sleep disturbances, digestion, cognition - the general effects on the body - are nothing but the delusions of a bunch of hypocondriacs. 50,000 miles of travel? Pffftttt. The 20,000 to 25,000 mile difference in distances travelled between teams like Vancouver and Calgary as opposed to Buffalo, Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey etc.... That's next to nothing.

Gillisoganda.

It would be helpful if you guys mentally berating others would actually do five minutes of homework before looking like even bigger fools than bullies:

Dallas Stars will be the NHL’s most traveled team in 2012-13

You might assume that the Winnipeg Jets would have the harshest road schedule in the league given that they will once again play in the same division as the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning. However, the Dallas Morning news reports that the Dallas Stars will actually lead the league in air miles.

The Stars, a Pacific Division team that’s based out of northern Texas, will travel a total of 49,851 miles over the course of the 2012-13 campaign, based on the newly released schedule.

That’s pretty harsh and it will probably be brought up when the NHL reopens the issue of realignment. Had the original realignment plan been approved by the NHLPA, the Dallas Stars would be playing in Conference B with Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis, and Winnipeg. That would have probably been preferable to the Stars from a travel perspective, but it would have also been an extremely tough conference to make the playoffs in.

Some guy that actually did the numbers puts the Canucks miles traveled in 9th spot with at least a half dozen other teams in the wheelhouse for similar air miles:

Click on any of the column headers to sort on that value.

So here's how this works: for each team, I walk through their schedule from Game 1 to Game 82, adding up the miles traveled from one game to the next. The European openers are accounted for, and if a team has road games immediately before and after the All Star break, I add in a trip home between those games. One adjustment I've made from previous years is that if a team starts on the road, I build in the miles from their home rink for Game 1 (and I've updated the 2010-11 numbers in the table above to match that scheme).

Yeah because that's not exact what you are doing in this post right? Dodging the things you have no answer for to push your point that really is reaching. Alright though let's discuss it.

So every other team has to go to Vancouver & back every once in awhile, yet we have to travel from Vancouver and back everytime we go somewhere.

Vancouver still travels more than every other team and significantly more than almost all of them, and this still doesn't measure up to the travel we do. Your going to have to come up with a better argument if you want to continue to refute the facts.

Lou was a slow starter in oct and nov.. Schiends will be in net this season.. It's good for edler ,garrison and kesler to have the time off to heal. Doesn't hurt the sedins either to get some rest after the past few seasons. Nucks will make the playoffs and hopefully make a run.. I think we will win the cup this year and shut all the haters up.. Just watch
