The Washington Capitals would like to thank Karl Alzner and Doug Avery for their time spent here in Washington, it is sad to see them go as they were big parts of this franchise on and off the ice. We had an opportunity to improve our team moving forward and we had to accept the deal as it was the best for our franchise. Good luck in Toronto.

The Washington Capitals would like to announce that Brendan Gaunce has been promoted to the leadership group of this team and will be donning the vacant A. His personal growth over the last few years has been a huge for our organization and he will carry on joining Ovie and Backstrom as leaders in our dressing room.

The Washington Capitals would like to welcome Alvin Pitton to our organization. We jumped at the opportunity to land this big young kid. We gave up a lot because we feel he is worth the investment. We look forward to good things to come for many years down the road.

We'd also love to welcome Clarke MacArthur to our team, his work ethic will play a valuable role for us during the playoffs slotting in the lineup where ever he is needed.

Last but not least we welcome Joseph Morrow to our blue line, we feel depth on the blueline is extremely important and his offensive skills will come in handy along with his very palatable contract. We'd also like to announce that Morrow has already scored his first Washington Capitals goal playing on our 4th line as Ovie and Leetch recover from injury
