Detroit you have Mattias Sonnenberg being traded to 2 different teams. I accepted 1, but then I saw the other trade with him in it too. I accepted that as well so they will probably cancel each other out.

Aren't those guys just supposed to be caretaking those teams until somebody adopts them?
So Doughty goes to a team that nobody owns. Great

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed goaltending prospect Jussi Kuhta (66 OVR, 4.0 Stars) and former Toronto first rounder Nazem Kadri to multi-year deals.

Hockey Buzz Eklund @Eklund
Hearing Toronto offered rogue goaltending prospect Jussi Kuhta back to San Jose. Kuhta used loophole to avoid signing with Sharks ala Justin Schultz and TOR GM feels strongly about subject. (e5)

The following players, who were signed to 1-year deals, must be released to free agency next offseason and cannot be traded this season as per the free agency rules:

The Phoenix Coyotes are more than happy to have our 2008 first round pick, Mikkel Bødker back with the team.
We feel trading him away was our biggest mistake and we hope he's going to make a big impact on scoring this starting season.

We're also extremely happy to have Alec Martinez making our blue-line stronger, who's going to be paired with Ekman-Larsson.
The Coyotes are also in talks about moving our 4-star goalie prospect Stan Down and our long time Captain Andrew Cogliano due to request.

At the moment, we're heading into the season with the following lineup;

Joffrey Lupul - Jiri Tlusty - Marc-Olivier Vallerand
Andrei Kostitsyn - Mikael Backlund - Mikkel Bødker
Lauri Korpikoski - Brendan Shinnimin - Radim Vrbata
Luke Adam - Henrik Samuelsson - Jordan Martinook/Martin Hanzal

Zbynek Michalek - Keith Yandle
Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Alec Martinez
Mike Weber - David Rundblad

Mike Visentin

So Doughty goes to a team that nobody owns. Great

As far as them being the GM of 2 teams each, they can manage those teams however they want. There's just a few rules. If they want, they can simply "caretake" the team. Signing a big name UFA would fall under that category. He's trying to make the team compete. Any other GM of T-Bay would have offered Doughty a big contract also.

The way I see it is either TBL and TOR are going to take all the top draft picks (if they can't sign players to make their teams better) or all the top UFAs (to become more competitive) for a few years.

Either way TBL and TOR are going to get good players one way or the other.

The following players, who were signed to 1-year deals, must be released to free agency next offseason and cannot be traded this season as per the free agency rules:

  • Curtis Glencross (DET)
  • Jyrki Jokipakka (MTL)
  • Brooks Laich (MTL)

I thought Jokipakka wasn't affected by this rule because it says it only applies to players over 82 overall?

My bad, I thought it was 82 OVR and over, not over 82 OVR :P

Perhaps we can change the wording to 83 OVR and higher or 4 yellow stars and higher instead so tired people don't misread it :P

Yeah that's probably best. Laich will be released at the end of next season though.

By the way, is LA even active? I have a trade that didn't go through at the trade deadline that still needs to be done. No reply to my PM's by their GM.

The trade between Chicago and Detroit went through? I guess this means that if trav gets two trades involving the same player, the FIRST one accepted goes through.

The Buffalo Sabres would like to welcome Jimmy Howard and Cody Eakin to the organization! We feel they both will have big roles on our team this year, with Ryan Miller retiring and Curtis Lazar moving on up the depth chart!

Still looking to trade Hodgson for a RW around 84 OVR

The rules

1. Players that are 78+ overall need waivers, unless the team has enough cap to cover the players in the minors or they are waiver ineligible

2. Players that are signed on the first day of UFA signings that are either over 82 overall OR 4 stars yellow and higher:

a.) Players who meet the above criteria that are signed to one-year deals, cannot be traded at any point during their season, they must also be forced to test free agency again the next summer.

b.) Players who are signed for multi-year deals will become the property of the team and full rights to the individual team are given.

3. No renting players

Anybody notice center Kevin Sundher 77 OVR in the FA? It says his birthplace is Surrey and it has a picture of him and everything, pretty wicked skills/shooting category too. Cool to see a brown guy in the game, wonder if we will see him in the NHL.

Sorry to jump into this thread, but he is a Buffalo Sabres prospect currently playing for their AHL affiliate. Played at the Burnaby Winter Club in his minor hockey days IIRC

Ohh, that's sick! I noticed it said he was drafted by buffalo in the 2nd round, but the app wouldn't tell me what year so I couldn't tell if he was drafted IRL or by the Buffalo GM in our league. Id like to see him play one day. Thanks!
