Fox used the description in a story about the funerals posted to its website last week, but it's getting passed around today. In honor of this Left-Wing Cult, we've collected visual evidence of Westboro's severe left-wing behavior to back up Fox News's bold assertion. Opening Serve: Monday's Memorial Day services attracted the attention of the Westboro Baptist Church, the Kansas group known for its angry, and now specifically court-allowed protests of American soldiers' funerals. The demonstrators, who carry signs bearing hateful messages such as "God hates ????" and "Jews killed Jesus" are not well-liked. Not even, apparently, by the Ku Klux Klan. Members of the Knights of the Southern Cross, a Virginia branch of the KKK, gathered outside Arlington Cemetery Monday to protest the protesters. The KKK group's leader, "Imperial Wizard" Dennis LaBonte told CNN, "It's the soldier that fought and died and gave them that right to free speech." Return Volley: The demonstrating WBC members seemed pretty unfazed by the KKK's counter-protest. According to CNN, Abigail Phelps, daughter of the Church's founder Fred Phelps, said, "That's fine. They have no moral authority on anything. People like them say it's white power ... white supremacy. The Bible doesn't say anywhere that it's an abomination to be born of a certain gender or race." What They Say the Fight's About: LaBonte and the KKK counter-protesters object to WBC's stance towards fallen soldiers. Phelps and WBC argue that the KKK, a white supremacy hate group, hardly has a right to criticize, as their platform doesn't even have biblical support. What the Fight's Really About: It looks like what we have here are two nationally recognized hate groups fighting over who's brand of hatred is more justified. The answer: neither. It's both comforting and disturbing to know that even the KKK denounces the Westboro Baptist Church, but this might be one of the more spectacular pot-kettle cases in recent memory. Though LaBonte insists that the Knights of the Southern Cross "are not about hate," KKK history makes that a pretty tough sell. Who's Winning Now: It's hard to declare anyone a winner here, but if we have to, it's LaBonte and Co. for grabbing publicity and recognizing the ridiculousness of Westboro's protests. Still,according to the Supreme Court, it is within the WBC's First Amendment rights to rally at as many soldiers' funerals as it wants--KKK disapproval isn't going to do much. Finally, let's not forget: the funeral protests may be largely offensive, but Westboro at least doesn't have any lynchings in its organizational history. On a side note, I know a lot about the WBC and wrote a paper on them. All they are is a group of attention whores and sure they don't seem "intelligent" but most of them have law degrees so whenever they are assaulted, sued or have anything criminally done to them they'll figure a way how to profit off of you. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 475,000 people have signed petitions asking the White House to crack down on Westboro Baptist Church after the group, known for holding anti-gay demonstrations at funerals, threatened to picket in Newtown, Connecticut. Newtown was the site of a school massacre on December 14 in which 20 young children and six adults were killed. Five petitions posted on the White House website since the shootings have asked the government to name the church, based in Topeka, Kansas, as a hate group or end its tax-exempt status. The requests were among the most popular on the White House site on Thursday. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights organization, has called the church "arguably the most obnoxious and rabid hate group in America" because of the anti-gay signs its members have carried at hundreds of military funerals. The protests reflect their view that God is punishing America for tolerance of gays and lesbians. The church has successfully defended its right to free speech in court. The church could not be immediately reached for comment. The White House did not respond to a request for comment on whether it would address the petitions. The White House has a policy of responding to petitions that reach a threshold of 25,000 signatures but does not comment on certain law enforcement issues that are within the jurisdiction of federal agencies or courts, according to its website. Obama last week asked Americans to pressure Congress to help tighten gun laws. Hugemanskost Posted January 1, 2013 Share Posted January 1, 2013 A revision of the Constitution, updating for instance the "right to bear arms" amendment, as what it originally was put in place for was to keep the Limeys out directly following the American Revolution...would be ideal in this case.
