Hi there, Im having a minor problem with my IE but i dont know whats causing it.

Whenever im downloading something and i try to open a new tab on my window, it crashes and interrupts my download. Its irritating D:<

I've tried disabling some add-ons but it still crashes.

It ONLY happens when im downloading, but if its just regular browsing its fine.

Does anyone know whats going on and can i fix it or should i bring it to geeksquad??

There is no best.

I've been using Google Chrome for a while, but I've found it unstable lately and have switched to Mozilla Firefox.

Yeah honestly I have Chrome on my laptop, and it's blows. So I use Firefox on my potato, and it works pretty well most the time.

Over the years I have NEVER had any problems with IE.. Ever.. But I do yearly windows re-installs so it probably never gets to the point of causing problems.. But I use Chrome now for youtube ad block.. Never have problems with it either..

Opera is a power user's dream. I can't stand using anything else. For a regular user, it's probably not the best choice, although my parents and girlfriend seem to get by with it just fine and they don't know anything about computers.

Also never take your computer to Geek Squad or any Big Box store for that matter. While there are some good techs at those stores, they're far too few and far between and they generally leave or stop caring due to the soul crushing nature of working in a big box store. They prioritize profit over everything including doing the job correctly. I worked at a variety of box stores through my teens and into my mid-20s including 6 years as a sales lead at Staples and one thing was always constant: management always wanted jobs done as quickly as possible (even if it meant cutting corners), wanted as much money per job as possible, and rewarded sleazy behaviour like you wouldn't believe.

Really? I like chrome a ton, never found a problem with it. I found Firefox had become a memory hog a while back, I'm sure they have fixed that problem by now since that was over a year ago. Opera is nice too, low on resources, etc. but I stick with chrome since I can use my google account on it and my phone to use websites when I'm not at home.

And it avoids the paywall restrictions set up by some news sites. Just open the site in an incognito window and if you get to the limit on a site just close the window and re-open. Everything re-sets.

To err is human - but to really screw up you need a computer.

Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done and why. Then do it.

Like the monthly limit before you have to start paying for?

The best browser (speed, efficiency, etc) out right now is safari for mac. However if you don't have a Mac, use google chrome. It's better than safari for windows.
