      BOARD SPECIFIC RULES   02/05/2016

These are board specific rules, meant to try to make the Trades and Free Agent Signings forum better for everyone. YOU MUST READ AND ABIDE BY THESE FORUM RULES.

      1. If an event happens, wait a few minutes before posting, in all likelihood, someone has already posted it. We don't want numerous threads on the same event, so please search before posting.

      2. Please provide a clearly identifiable topic title for your thread so that user's can search for and find the appropriate thread easily. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate. This is to help avoid duplicate threads and to make searching easier. For any and all comments, please use the Topic Description box instead of the title.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriately label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].

      3. All trades, signings, rumours and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread.

The following are NOT considered valid sources: Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Hockeybuzz, Spector's Hockey and The Fourth Period are currently acceptable sources.

The NHL Line, Brochu is Hockey and NHL Hockey News by saint Pako are currently invalid sources.

      4. Clearly misrepresenting the contents of your thread or posting false Trades/Signings/Acquisitions to send the forum into a frenzy will be taken very seriously and will result in an automatic suspension.

      5. Please put all proposals into the proposals forum and NOT this forum. Proposals found in this forum will be moved or deleted without warning.

      6. Please report any threads or messages that violate these or other board rules to the administrators or moderators() Do not respond by posting spammy messages such as 'IBTL', and 'LOCK AND BAN', or by attacking other users. The report button is located to the bottom left of every post.

Thank you for your co-operation and please PM one of the Moderators or Administrators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

[Discussion] Roberto Luongo Trade Thread 4.0

3,456 posts in this topic

Booth will be close in about a month from now, he should return around the end of February.

I don't think we should rush this but if we are going for the homerun (Gardiner) I think we should take a step back and look at Bozak or McArthur + Kadri, then something else aswell, 2nd or prospect.

See how Schneids starts then make a move.

Spread the wealth.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian

Higgins - Schroeder - Burrows

Raymond - Lapierre - Hansen

Volpatti - Malhotra - Weiss

With a stro,ng defense and arguably the best goaltending tandem in the NHL, we will be fine.

Jensen has 14 goals, 6th in the SEL (and would be the leading scorer on 9 of the 12 teams there) - as a 19 year old...

Not beyond the realm of possibility that this Danish stud could get a call if the Canucks need him...While they're at it, the Canucks could have a talk with his team-mate, undrafted 19 year old center Mattias Janmark-Nylen.

Doesn't matter how good your defense and goaltending is. If you can't score goals you won't win. Plain and simple. The Sedins can't do it all.

Ugh... Maybe it's just me but that is ugly.

You never know. Kassian playing with the twins for a while could be a blessing - his bridge to confidence at the NHL level.

Kassian has all the tools he needs - and if he were to get on a bit of a roll with them, you just never know...The upside of that situation would be the combination of puck possession/cycling ability and finish that Kassian has, as well as the pushback on the ice with the twins. If Kassian developed Burrows' exceptional quality of relentless puck pursuit, it would be priceless. I think Burrows is as close to an ideal linemate for them as there is, particularly with his penalty killer, defensive backbone background, but what better model for Kassian to emulate? Take no shifts off, work hard in your own end, pursue the puck, hit the boards and go to the net - with that size and footspeed...deadly.

For every guy that steps up like that, it pushes balance down the lineup. I think AV has plenty of quality NHL players to work with even with a couple top 6 out of the lineup.

G-52, starting to get real sick of your whole "posting in the news thread when it's not news" gimmick

Tell that to the NJD and Marty Brodeur.

So what is the target now?

I think the deal should change a bit to include Clarke McArthur, the thing is from their side he is a useful top 6 forward, from our side he is probably a rental.

McArthur, Bozak, Kadri, Conditional Pick (2nd: If both McArthur and Bozak leave as UFA's. 3rd: if one of the 2 leaves, nothing if both are re-signed)

Is that a stretch or realistic? They added JVR so that bumps one of there regular top 6 wingers down, so maybe that wold be McArthur and it would leave him open to trade, they have some guys other than that too, Connolly, Lombardi, McClement, Frattin, Colbourne, Ashton, exc. Anyways Thoughts?

Lots of options and interchangeable assets if we consider splitting the twins up.

Of course, I would much rather see how they do paired together to start the season.

Hey guys, I got this from Calgarypuck, it's very intresting...

Take it for what it's worth, but...

We had 12 scouts in the restaurant I work at tonight for dinner, who are in town for the CHL top prospects game, and they were talking hockey with their server.

They outright told her that Luongo to Florida was as good as done.

I dont know why a Flame fan would make up a rumour that would benifit us, but apparently Luongo to Florida.

Bjugstad + Weiss for Luongo :emot-parrot:

Well that's gotta be the most reliable source I've ever seen.

A server at a random restaurant.

I know like as in other sports they tend to have fun and saying something like that would make them all laugh after leaving knowing the server heard it and would tell someone.Thats to funny wish I was there to see that happen!I think a trade will happen asap or at the deadline after Schnieds proves he dominates! :towel::canucks::towel:

Fowler is futher ahead, and he is plays a one dimensional role which is easier to jump into right away, but Gudbranson will be the better player.

I don't think it is that risky, maybe they won't produce but they won't be a liability defensively IMO.

As 18/19 year olds here were their OHL numbers:

Gudbranson - 12 goals, 34 points in 44 games.

Pietrangelo - 8 goals, 29 points in 36 games.

Luongo's value could go up if he plays well here in Vancouver and teams like the Leafs and Panthers, who want to make the playoffs, become desperate for what Lu could bring.
