I get what you are saying.

I just can't understand how it would be beneficial to them to destroy there future that they are working so hard to build towards, just to get rid of one bad contract that isn't a huge negative factor right now anyways since they aren't a contender.

Also your not taking into account the finacial situation in Long Island, as I said to someone else, Buyouts aren't as easy as they sound.

Owner's don't generally like doing it because is just paying for your mistakes as GM.

Huh?
You're being obtuse.
From the start I was making the point the Isles can't afford the buyout.
You suggested they'd buy him out themselves.

Now you're telling me I haven't considered their financial situation?
As you said to someone else?

They can't afford the buyout or the contract. That's the point Smashian.
That's why a rich team for whom buying assets would make sense, ie a contender for whom the investment could pay off, would consider the trade and buyout - in exchange for the assets.
Things have changed - and teams from both ends of the spectrum are bound to take advantage of the terms.

Bryzgalov, 2011-12: 33-16-7, .909 SVP, 2.48 GAA, 6 SO

Luongo, 2011-12: 31-14-8, .919 SVP, 2.41 GAA, 5 SO

Look familiar?

You can't just waive away ten points of save percentage. That's a huge difference.

LOL

What was so funny about what I said? I basically called Simmonds a 35g 60pt grinding winger with speed that drops the gloves. The Carter reference was about handedness and point production.

Kassian.... Taylor Pyatt 3.0

Lies. He's more of a Steve Bernier. Hopefully his talent level goes up so he can become like a Taylor Pyatt.

Oldnews, you let your Leaf hater blinders get in the way of some Leafs' actual value. I hope you're not serious about Phaneuf being worth a mid-level prospect.

Have a sense of humour Mullet. This is Canada. This is Canucks.com. It's what we do. These are the Leafs we are talking about here.

Not gonna happen.

Fleury won the cup there - he is not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Fleury was worse than Bryz in round one
Fleury he has not been consistent since he won the cup.
I would almost say that they would be in better shape for a deal than Philly.

I should clarify that I really like Simmonds as a player. But again I must add....

The Carter reference was about handedness and point production.

Sorry, I don't get the humour. Did Anson Carter not enjoy a 33g 22a 55pt season with the Sedins as a RH shot?

Canucks would like to get Nicklas Grossman in any trade for Luongo. Unclear if Philly will go that far

Why would Philly be dumping D-men? Unless we're sending Ballard back the other way.

I don't know why we'd wanna swap Ballard for Grossman though.

I guess you missed the 2011 Stanley Cup, or the 1st round series against Chicago.

Alright that's fine.

It still doesn't make sense for them to destroy there future for one bad contract, I understand the concept of a cap dump, but there does get to be a point where a cap dumb becomes a fleecing.

And if they can't handle to pay Dipietro's salary, that doesn't explain how you think they would take on Lu's contract and Ballard's contract and give up a ton of good young assets to do so.

what is philly going to do with Bryz for this season?

try to loan him to a KHL team?
waive and hope for someone to pick him up or bury in the minors?

the compliance buyouts cant be used for this season. i think they will at least give Bryz another year given the big contract they gave him.

Nicklas Grossman, da quad? Luongo, a top 5 goalie in this league, is worth more than Nicklas Grossman.

That's 1 goal over 100 shots. I also omitted the facts that Bryz is younger and his contract is less rich.

Other than 7-1 and 5-0...

Game 1: 2-0 W
Game 2: 4-3 W
Game 3: 3-2 W
Game 6: 3-4 L
Game 7: 2-1 Win

Safe to say Luongo and Burrows won us Game 7.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Nope, caught both of those. He wasn't nearly as bad as Bryzgalov.

Luongo stil had a .914 SV% despite those series. What was Bryzgalov's SV% again? .887? Oh yea.

He has also led a team to the finals. Which is more than Bryzgalov can say.

They can't afford Dipietro' contract because it means they also have to have Nabokov at another 2.75 and Nilsson is another 1.8... That's 9 million in cap hit Smashian.
Dipietro and Nabokov are not exactly Lundqvist or Schneider/Luongo.
Luongo gives them a guy who can play 70 games for 5.3. That's how they handle it - it's a huge savings.
