I hate these shortened seasons, they suck.

Glad the game is back though.

@TGfireandice
Martin Brodeur said the thing that bothered him most about 3 lockouts in his career is that in 04-05 he had no chance to win another Cup.

Better than the last lockout we had!

Bieksa has always played the right side at even-strength.

I hope they don't use Edler on the right side as he has looked lost at times playing the right side in the past.

Yes of course. Bowness means Bieksa on the right side of Garrison. So essentially the Hamhuis / Bieksa pairing would be broken up to play Bieksa with Garrison.

Or Edler would play on the right side paired with Garrison.

Bottom line, Bowness says he plans on plying Garrison on the left side where Garrison feels more comfortable. I think Bowness' mind may change after camp or a few games into the season but this is what he plans for now.

Some time ago I read this article about where Rick Bowness plans to play Garrison, it's the left side. He won't be on the right side.
Bowness plans to move either Bieksa or Edler to the right side.

Edit Here's the article. The author goes into detail and doesn't agree with Bowness so it's worth a read.

There is no doubt Edler will be re-signed. Ballard will be gone before end of next season, either thru buyout or if MG can pull it off, via trade.

Edler can't play the right side. Is Bowness new to this team? he should know these things already...

Why wouldn't you play Garrison on the right side, since you know, he can actually play both sides?

Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Edler
Ballard Tanev

I guess that's what we'll see then.

Interesting. January was planned all along, but it looked like they were gonna scrap the whole season for a bit there.

Meh. Either way i'm looking forward to not dishing out one cent of my cash to the cause for a long, long time. No tickets. No merch. No tv package. Nothing.

And i hope more fans feel the same way.

Next time don't have a lockout that is totally unjustified.

New info on buyouts from Sportsnet and the Canadian Press -- Teams have the next two summers to use the two buyouts (can do one each summer or two at once). Each will cost two-thirds of what's left on a players' deal.

So we might have two off seasons to buy out two players. Ballard/Booth have an extra full season to prove themselves.

Thanx for posting that; it pretty much mirrored my concern! The article also mucks up that Connauton may be a right side solution, he's also a left shooting left D who really looks when paired only on his side paired with a guy who shelters him to play an offensive role. And we certainly dont need a PP specialist left side guy at the expense of Edler!

DeNiro (asked in another thread also); Garrison played right side PP in Florida. Did he also play 5 on 5 in his lock down role? I am not aware of it.

I'd prefer to trade one of our 4 left side guys.

Anybody, any thoughts on whether Jensen is being invited to camp, and if so shots on making the team?

My money says bring him to camp, but he'll be returned to Sweden.

I don't see him taking a Top 6 LW scoring role, which is his personality, off Booth or Danny. And I don't see that he has enough puck digging, fore-checking, back checking in him to take a bottom 6 role off Higgins or Raymond. That both are UFA suggests that is the succesion plan next year. Nor an off wing role with the Twins or Kess on the right side, as we have scoring already and need glue guys (like Burrows) there unless he is so good he is dominating???

He's staying in the league that he's in now, I remember when he went there it was said that he was going to stay there even if the lockout ends.
