Wouldn't be a shock if they struggle out the gate. The NW isn't a pushover anymore.

With Hudler, Cervenka and Wideman? Of course!

They'll prolly win it all this year.

Kesler was lucky to score 20 this year since the injury to Morrison allowed him to do so.

I doubt Kesler would ever break 15 goals in his career again.

Good one.

And for the record, if you read the entire thread you'll get the sarcasm.

Die hard canucks fan. Just because i am a canucks fan doesn't mean i can't be realistic about the team i follow. I look at things objectively, not through homer glasses.

Thats not being realistic. The Oilers have yet to prove that they could make the playoffs, never mind taking the division title from us. They will need to build the chemistry needed with all the new young players coming in and we all know that will take some time. They won't go from last place to 1st place in one season. The Canucks are also the same team since we only replace Salo with Garrison. We still have Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Ballard, Alberts etc on defense. Nothing has changed on offense and Kesler is probably healthy by the time the NHL starts up again. Also, being realistic is different than being pessimistic. Right now you are being pessimistic.

The Canucks either miss the playoffs entirely, or barely squeak in and get knocked out in the first round. This team is not good enough to be a cup contender as it stands now.

I think the window has closed with this group, but maybe I am a pessimist here.

So this team will miss the playoffs with Sedins, Kesler, Edler, Garrison, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Schneider, Luongo, Burrows etc.? A two time President trophy winner will just fall off the map for no reason?

are you guys kidding me !!!

Defense of

Hamhuis bieksa
Edler Gairrison
Ballard Tanev
Corrado

Schneider

better than any d in our division by far.
Gillis will make a trade with lu for bozak or weiss to fill in for kes in the mean time wow

It is pretty much a joke to compare our defense to Edmonton's defense. Their forwards are good but their defense and goaltending needs to prove something.

The Oilers suck, they have sucked for the last half decade, they are going to suck this year and they will continue to suck for atleast a couple years to come. Bad hockey team.

Do you even watch hockey? How in gods name can someone pick the oilers over the canucks is beyond insane.

Most of the Oilers' top players have been playing in the AHL this year, they are in much better condition to win, especially early on in the season.

This is also a shortened season. Fans take note, the Oilers may just get in to the playoffs this year considering all the extraneous factors.

Yeah the canuck players are known as the best conditioned team in the NHL yet the oiler kids are playing in the AHL which makes them better conditioned. Makes zero sense but okay. I suppose you think they've just sat around doing nothing during the lockout.

I guess going from president trophy winners to fringe playoff team is a factor im not familiar with.

38 - 6 - 4

The Twins are rested, Kesler should return 100% and i feel Booth will have a bounce back season with something to prove, especially with that buyout option.

I predict we have a mediocre season (by recent standards) and finish 4th or 5th in the conference.

if we get off to our usual slow start we're going to be out of it pretty quick, can't afford that with a shortened season

I'm guessing that we'll either win the division or just miss it and finish 4th or 5th. Depends on trades and Kesler's health.

Miss the playoffs, fans call for Schneiders head, regret running Luongo out of town.

That'll be the 2013 season in a nutshell.

By the way learn how to spell SHIRIKOV who is this shirakov

Amazingly on his first shift Kassian would have had a breakaway if Kesler knew how to pass. And he still got switched with Weiss. And note it is "Weiss" not "Wise".

honestly who cares if we win the division or not, I care more about how we do in the playoffs. If we win the division/conference/president's trophy and just go out 1st round again who gives a crap

Depends on how bad we actually want it this time. On paper we have one of the best teams in the league. But do our players have the heart ? They definitely didn't want it bad enough last year, and fluked it through on weaker division teams. Its boom or bust, they will either go all the way or out in the first round. They will make the playoffs just based on sheer talent but we shall see.

I'll say we start slow, going 7-12 in the beginning part, 9-5 as we improve in the second part, then 11-4 to finish strong. 27-21 overall. Make the playoffs around 4th or 5th in the West.
