Will the Canucks play Capitals if season starts Jan 15
or will the Canucks play Ducks if season starts Jan 19
OR Is their a completely new revised schedule that will be released soon?

48 games = 7g vs division and 2g vs conference
50 games = 5g vs division and 3g vs conference
I have also heard speculations that:
52 games could = 8g vs division and 2g vs conference
the inclusion of out of conference games. (eastern canadian teams playing western, etc.)
So to answer your question no the schedule will NOT remain the same, but to this point the schedule system is all speculation

So, no games on the shortened schedule vs. the opposite conference? That blows.

They will probably keep some of the existing Western Conference games from the old schedule.
There will be a new schedule. It wouldn't make any sense to keep the old one.

Hoping they'll include the Eastern Canada road trip in the schedule!
Yeah same! It's fun playing teams like Jets, Leafs, Habs, Sens.

Hopefully 5x division, 2x conference, 1x other conference teams...
The math doesn't add up, but I agree with the sentiment. It would be nice to see the other conference on occasion, although less travel is better for the Canucks.
Still, our conference could be the most exciting. Colorado has a solid shot at the playoffs, Minnesota now has Suter and Parise and this could be Edmonton's break out season seeing as many of their young guys have been keeping in shape and developing in the AHL. Calgary will probably still suck, maintaining the natural order.
