2013 Season Predictions

Recommended Posts

We did this last year and it was interesting as the year went on seeing who was right on the money and who wasn't.

Pick a few predictions you think for the coming season and the Canucks.

Here are mine:

- Luongo gets traded before the season is done

- Through trades/signings we end up with two new forwards and one new defenceman from outside the organization.

- Schneider has some struggles with consistency being the go-to guy in such a compressed season.

- The defence struggles trying to adjust to the absence of Salo, raising our GAA

- Higgins and Lapierre raise their game and have the most improvement

- We end up #3-5 in the conference this season

EDIT: Please don't be a troll and put useless posts in this thread. It is a place for predictions and just posting how dumb you think someone's predictions are makes you look silly. Man up and make your own prediction and when it comes true, feel free to gloat during the season.

Well, what the hell:

- Both Schneider and Luongo play well

- This leads to Vancouver trading Cory Schneider instead for a higher return that addresses team needs instead of Luongo in order to make a Stanley Cup run right now

- Ballard is traded for a stay-at-home bottom pairing defenseman with size (akin to Rome - but hopefully better)

- Sedins get back to scoring above PPG

- Schroeder and Kassian both give Hodgson-esque production together on the 2nd line in Kesler's long absence to help the team remain in playoff contention (Kesler returns in very late March or early April)

- Canucks finish 3rd with the help of Ryan Kesler's return, narrowly beating out a Minnesota Wild team that struggle in the beginning with chemistry but catch fire near the end, finishing 5th

Sounds like fun:

- Luongo gets traded pretty quickly, within a month or month and a half at the latest

- We will win the division and finish 2nd or 3rd in the confrence

- Schroeder and Kassian both stick with the big club out of camp.

- Sedin's get right back to their ways and carry the majority of the offense during the regular season as usual.

- Garrison scores 9 goals, but still plays his solid reliable game.

- Ballard and Tanev both have strong years

- Schneider will be fine throughout the year

- Daniel will lead the team in goals and Henrik will lead the team in Assists & Points. (I know such a bold prediction)

Sure why not!

- Canucks do NOT win the presidents trophy or western conference (NYR and STL)

- Luongo is not traded; The return offered by NYI is too much to say no for Schneider.

- Kesler returns with 20 games to go in the season and the Canucks' playoff hopes still questionable

- Edler is not retained by Vancouver, traded at deadline to Philly

- Corrado gets camp tryout, makes team.

- Vancouver vanquishes Dallas and Chicago in first 2 rounds of playoffs

- Hard fought 7 game series against LA for conference finals. Not saying who wins.

- Canucks may or may not win Stanley.

- Luongo gets traded to Toronto for Kadri + others

- Canucks sign Dan Ellis as a backup

- Kadri struggles and stays in the AHL, other players in the trade make little impact.

- Schneider gets injured early, forcing a dire goaltending situation

- Kesler returns early because the team is struggling, "claims he's 100% okay" but fails to produce.

- Canucks fall behind in the condensed schedule

- The Canucks are eliminated from getting a playoff spot in the last game of the regular season by the Maple Leafs and Robert Luongo gets a shut out

Maybe that was a bit harsh (and I guess we wouldn't be playing Toronto). I think the Canucks will finish 3rd in the West and have a good run at the cup, and will probably make it at least to the Western finals.

-Booth and Garrison both have good years to match their worth

-Canucks have better playoff run then last year at least conference finals

-Ballard has a good season

Luongo is traded to FLA shortly after training camp

Ballard is bought out

Edler is resigned

Kes returns Mid-march

Sedins are top 5 for scoring

Kassian and Schroeder both make the team (Schroeder till Kes returns)

Raymond will continually be the whipping boy unless Booth falters

Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr admit they're lovers

Canucks win the Cup, but forever have the asterisks next to their names in the record books saying it was a shortened season. Luongo is traded immediatly. Sedins still finish season within top 10 of scoring but signs of them slowing down are evident. Schroeder plays great in place of Kes and gets traded due to high value.

This team is such a mess. They should have traded Schneids a year and a half ago. Luongo has been treated so poorly by the fans and media I'd be surprised if he'd want to stay on such a team.

I'm still a fan, but I'm just not sure if I am going to enjoy this season.
