Primal Optimist Posted April 5, 2013 Share Posted April 5, 2013 I think it is fair to say that at this point Pittsburgh, Montreal, Washington, Boston, Ottawa and Toronto are IN THE PLAYOFFS Out west I think it is also fair to say Chicago, Anaheim, Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Jose and Minnesota are all IN THE PLAYOFFS This leaves the Isles, Rangers, Jersey, Winnipeg and Philly left in the hunt for the last two spots in the east and Detroit, St Louis, Edmonton, Columbus, and Nashville searching for two spots out west. The Lightning and Hurricanes have a game in hand on the Capitals and those teams are just four points back. Washington is in the same fight with the eastern teams you mention plus the SE division top spot. Secondly for the two spots in the west, you have to add Phoenix to the list. The Coyotes are tied with the Predators and have a game in hand on Nashville. I agree that the Leafs have a decent chance of making the playoffs unless..... Detroit has nine games left to make up 3 points on Minny who has a game in hand...not likely The Blues could very well overtake Minny with 11 games remaining and currently tied with Nashville 0-0 San Jose could also drop to 6th. So there it is, Vancouver will most likely have home ice against Minny, San Jose or the Blues...I am not afraid of any of these teams, but Minnesota does offer some huge upside to the intrigue after they bulked up in the offseason. Looking forward to it, and while I am not too worried about any of these teams mentioned, I do hope a few of them get lucky and knock out Chicago, Anaheim or LA before we have to.
