Not sure how to embed the video here.

Anyways, quick little clip of Luongo talking to reporters (Farhan TSN) - just about what he expects of the future and 'giving the green light to Mike to do what's best for the team'

I'm sure he'll be traded shortly after training camp.

I think we'll keep both goalies this season. With us being able to spend up to 70 million there's no cap problem and in such a short season, one injury or, one bad streak, or even just getting up to speed with the season slowly can screw us. Having two NHL caliber goalies in case the other one craps the bed, can only help.

How many times must they ask him the same questions?

And I'm with you Wellwood, having 2 good goalies will definitely be an advantage for us.

But all teams have a 70mil cap. If we want to ice the best team we can paying 5mil for a backup is ridiculous. What if we have a injurry on defense of forward, then the goalie on the bench can't help us. No one knows what will transpire with players getting hurt but I'd bet on needing more support outside of the net, as the past has shown us.

Love the omission of him being fed Leafs-centric questions, but all other questions are aired.

Also loving the general Luongo love in TO... now... When they've been ripping him for all 6 years of him being a Canuck.

I will not miss TSN's or CBC's blabbering TO coverage this season, certainly.

lol currently we have 2 goalies and the same number of NHL calibre centerman-Sedin and Lappy.
right now, we need centermen- will schoreder be able to carry our 2nd line for 20 games? what about 40 games- that is a lot to ask of a kid who has yet to play in the NHL. Either way, the way this team could really improve, would be to go out and get a big young centerman with some skill-CBJ-Johansen- a pipe dream I know, but inorder to get a centerman like that, we need to move a goalie.

Although I do believe that, for better or worse, his time in Vancouver is done, I'm really warming up to this idea. As long as HE feels comfortable still playing in Vancouver, despite all the rumours and trade talk in the summer and Schneider taking over for him in the playoffs, I see no reason why the team should rush to deal him. I think HIS stance on everything was the determining factor as to what was going to happen to him, at least in the immediate future. If he just wanted out, Gillis would be working feverishly to accommodate him. However, if he's fine playing in Vancouver for the time being then there's no reason not to take advantage of another season with a stud goalie duo of him and Schneider, who also must be comfortable with the situation, given he signed an extension with Luongo still in the fold.

Ultimately, Schneider is the guy in net for the future and Luongo isn't even close to being an old veteran backup so he eventually will be traded. But there's time, which is mostly because of Luongo's remarkable professionalism throughout all this.

I suspect we'll keep him for this year, unless a great trade comes up. He'll more likely be traded in the off-season.

I can't imagine that to start the season Luongo won't be the backup. Lack is hurt and none of the free agent goalies seem to be backup material. Unless we get a forward and a decent goalie in return I would expect Luongo to be here in a few weeks. Also to say that Schneider doesn't need competition and that having two elite goalies would keep up the aggressive atmosphere would be ignoring the truth. Only downfall to him is the cap hit.

Indicative of not really believing in what he's saying...stalling his verbal expression as he sorts through what he is thinking. I don't have a psych degree, so for all I know, I could be talking out of my a$$.

I don't ride with the band, I roll with the team.

I've been a Canuck fan since 2004-05 when the team was going through a huge transition phase, missed the playoffs

He's definately saying all the right things, he doesn't want to be a cancer in the room and is staying positive. But what I read from that was he's ready to leave still and waiting fro the right offer. As much as I like the idea of insurance having him as a backup if Schnieder can't handle being number one, I'm over Luongo, he can go. I'll take a veteran backup over Luongo at this point.

Some athletes are better at being interviewed than others.
At times it feels like viewers don't realize how annoying and tricky it is to answer media questions. Especially when you just know they are going to twist it all around in the end.
Also, look at when they ask these guys questions... these TSN guys somehow got the rights to be able to ask players questions DURING THE F-ing game!
-Can't even wait for the period to finish.

I mean they're going to give you a cliche'd answer 9 times out of 10. Why even bother?

I feel like the only person in Vancouver who wanted Schneids traded a year and a half ago. Why trade away the best player the Canucks have ever had?

Since this is a short season, I say keep both goalies. But if MGGM receives a reasonable offer which the Canucks will benefit from then I think he will be traded. But keep him till the end of the playoffs.

When the media's job is to blow things out of proportion and to make fans feel entitled to winning every single game, then you get fans that act this way too.

Folks forget these guys are people too. It's like expecting a really good plumber, to be good at interviews. It's not really their jobs.
