Watching Manny in the CDC vid of the players reactions to the shortened season, it struck me that this could be the season for him to make a major comeback.

He looked comfortable on the soccer field in the summer and he looks lean and ready to go in the interview.

Anyone else think he could still be our 2nd line centre? I would love to see him really break out with all guns firing. I still think his diving goal last season was in the top 3 goals scored by the Canucks.

I really think he will comeback.

He's working really hard to try and get back to 10-11 form.

If he's our 2nd line center then I can't wait to get Drouin, Jones, or Mackinnon.

What a moment that was! He'll be our 3rd/4th line centerman. Most likely 4th even if Kesler is out because a guy like Schroeder can play on the 2nd/3rd line.

I'm hoping he comes back in full form this season. The guy was so clutch before his bloody eye injury.

This shortened season may be of great advantage to Malhotra. He did look great on the pitch with the Caps. However, no way he's playing second line. If he could play on third in any near capacity to when he first got here I would be eccstatic.

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

I think he's going to still be on our 4th or 3rd line. 2nd line will be for Schroeder or for someone to step up into. he isn't good enough skill wise to be a 2nd liner. He can do great winning faceoffs for our PK and on our 4th and 3rd line. Keep him there, he's good there :D

We'll find out right away when he heads up the ice and trys to accept a simple outlet pass.

And then what do we do with that 2C when Kesler comes back? Lapierre/Malhotra are quite a bit better than CDC and the rest of the hockey world seems to think.

I was thinking about manny today and wondering why none of the reporters have asked about his condition.

I believe too that manny will be great for us this year, I do not believe his vision was to blame but the fact that he was basically unable to do ANY physical work for like 6 months. As a previous user said, he looked good on the soccer field and looked to be in very good shape.

Manny never has put up the offence that the Rangers expected of him when they drafted him. For that reason alone he won't make it as a 2nd line center. 3rd line, sure, if he returns to form. He's an excellent bottom 6 guy but doesn't provide enough at both ends of the ice to be a top 6.

That is beauty of the Canucks depth, centre's 2 through 4 can play any where in that range.
Schroeder may step in and take the 2nd line spot until Kesler gets back but I am pulling for Manny to do it.
Lappy with the checkers on the 3rd line and Higgins or Schroeder on the 4th.

Of course Ebbett is good to go and may claim a spot.

He'll be depended on in defensive zone face-offs with Kesler out.

Good role player.

Hahahah agreed Sir,

but in all seriousness, I could see him having a comeback season and notching 15-25 points. If he can do that, can be the amazing defensive forward/face-off king he was in 2010-11 then I'll be stoked beyond belief.

I agree also that he looks more fit, and his confidence isn't a problem judging by his leadership in the CBA negotiations and willingness to play with the White Caps in practice.

Without a sensational showing in the AHL this season Jordan Schroeder, without one game of NHL experience, comes from nowhere and is slotted in on the second line of the reigning President Cup Champions.

Yeah, but more likely they will see how he goes and offer him a gig in the management and or coaching ranks if he cannot meet muster.

You expect schroeder to be defensively sound enough as a rookie or strong enough as a tiny forward to play on our checking lines? Its 1st or 2nd line or bust for schroeder IMO MAYBE he gets 3rd line minutes when kes is back if he shows he can handle it.

Yeah,of course.I was being facetious.
The .org need the rookies to step up for all the obvious reasons but the shortened season will not facilitate the luxury of slowly and carefully inserting Jordan in when they can to safely introduce him to the speed and size of the big game.

Honestly, I don't expect that much from him. I'd be surprised if he even came close to the player he was in 10-11. It's one of those cases where I don't exactly think he fits on our team but we'll end up keeping him out of respect. He makes too much to be a 4C and I think Lappy is a better 3C than him.

He will be better than last year, due to more training time and adapting to eye condition. I would love to see him get to where he was, but not holding my breath. He will be a very good 4C. Good luck Manny!

Three Predictions:
1. Schroeder will not make the team.
2. Ebbett will play well enough to be shuffles on lines 2-4 until Kesler returns
3. Manny will earn himself a multi year contract.
