I'm going to say this again. Edmonton will make the playoffs. Their young guns (eberle-RNH-Hall) have been playing together in the AHL and have already developed chemistry. Horcoff and Hemsky are in mid season form through their play in Europe. Dubnyk will be a proven starter with the mentor ship of Khabi.

Guys, there's no way we come in 1st in the West without Ryan Kesler in our lineup for the majority of our season. That is, unless Sedins and Schneider and Luongo play lights out every game.

Oilers will make the playoffs, their top 6 is crazy. Yakupov on the 2nd line, don't forget he was putting up better numbers then Ovi in the KHL.

Hall-RNH-Eberle

Hemsky-Gagner-Yakupov

Smyth-Hartikainen-Horcoff

Belanger-Jones-Eager

Hordi

Smid-J.Schultz

Whitney-N. Schultz

Peckham-Potter

Sutton

Petry

Dubynk

Khabi

(I don't know their lineup very well)

In a shortened season anything can happen. Results will be all over the place.

1. St. Louis

2. Los Angeles

3. Vancouver (But fewer points in the standings than teams below)

4. Nashville

5. Chicago

6. Calgary

7. Detroit

8. Edmonton

9. Minnesota

10. San Jose

11. Colorado

12. Dallas

13. Phoenix

14. Columbus

15. Anaheim

Canucks are in the playoffs (and 3rd seed) only by virtue of being in a relatively weak division. LA and St. Louis are obvious divisional choices. I actually like Calgary's team on paper, and Edmonton will start hot with their stars in midseason form and squeak in. The Sharks regressed significantly last year, and they have very weak forward depth. I think they'll fall out. Even without Suter, Nashville still has a well-rounded team. To me, the Ducks look weak. They have one line, and after their big forwards the forward depth drops. The defense is below average. Goaltending at this point is average.

But in a short season, anything could happen. One hot streak and you're on top. Slow start or a slump could bury you.

Or if we trade Luongo for a 2C like Stephen Weiss.

I think a LOT of people are overestimating the Canucks. Our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines are guaranteed to be shuffled around for the majority of this season leaving no time for chemistry to build. I can only see the Sedin's and our goalie tandem being the consistent performers this year. I predict a second round exit after barely holding onto a division title.

1. St. Louis

2. Los Angeles

3. Vancouver

4. Chicago

5. Minnesota

6. Nashville

7. San Jose

8. Detroit
