1) Minnesota Wild (remember, they were hot off the gate last year for 1/2 season...)
2) St.Louis Blues
3) LA Kings (they'll greatly benefit from a long break)
4) Chicago Blackhawks
5) Vancouver Canucks
6) San Jose Sharks
7) Detroit Red Wings
8) Nashville Predators
9) Dallas Stars
10) Edmonton Oilers
11) Colorado Avalanche
12) Phoenix Coyotes
13) Anaheim Ducks (fire sale at deadline)
14) Calgary Flames
15) Columbus Blue Jackets

If Luongo is ever dealt to Chi-town, what an opening series that'll be.

I'm going to say this again. Edmonton will make the playoffs. Their young guns (eberle-RNH-Hall) have been playing together in the AHL and have already developed chemistry. Horcoff and Hemsky are in mid season form through their play in Europe. Dubnyk will be a proven starter with the mentor ship of Khabi.

Calgary wont be as bad as everyone thinks. They will misss but last is far fetched.

The key difference is that Sopel can fill in for Seabrook and Campbell just fine. Bieksa, he is garbage so in that sense he is like the worst defenseman in the league.

When Cody (Hodgson) gets older, he might be better than Datsyuk.

Let's not push this guy (Kassian). He's still immature, and if he fails on the 2nd line it's because he isn't ready. Some guys really need years to develop, it's how well and how fast players adapt to the game. In my opinion, I'd rather have Horvat getting 2nd line minutes. He will start off on the 3rd line next season but I see him making the transition, being a great compliment to whoever plays his wings.

At this point, I don't see Kassian fitting in to any role other than a 3rd. If players like Kassian start getting 2nd line minutes then we just stay inconsistent as a team.

The idiocy on CDC....

2nd: St. Louis
3rd: Los Angeles
4th: Minnesota
5th: Chicago
6th: Nashville
7th: Detroit
8th: Phoenix

11th: Dallas
12th: Colorado
13th: Anaheim (I agree with you about the trade deadline fire sale)
14th. Calgary
15th: Columbus Jackets improved this off season but still have some work to do. Mackinnon/Jones/Drouin/Barkov will help with the progress)

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Guys, there's no way we come in 1st in the West without Ryan Kesler in our lineup for the majority of our season. That is, unless Sedins and Schneider and Luongo play lights out every game.

Oilers will make the playoffs, their top 6 is crazy. Yakupov on the 2nd line, don't forget he was putting up better numbers then Ovi in the KHL.

Or if we trade Luongo for a 2C like Stephen Weiss.

In a shortened season anything can happen. Results will be all over the place.

1. St. Louis
2. Los Angeles
3. Vancouver (But fewer points in the standings than teams below)
4. Nashville
5. Chicago
6. Calgary
7. Detroit
8. Edmonton

9. Minnesota
10. San Jose
11. Colorado
12. Dallas
13. Phoenix
14. Columbus
15. Anaheim

Canucks are in the playoffs (and 3rd seed) only by virtue of being in a relatively weak division. LA and St. Louis are obvious divisional choices. I actually like Calgary's team on paper, and Edmonton will start hot with their stars in midseason form and squeak in. The Sharks regressed significantly last year, and they have very weak forward depth. I think they'll fall out. Even without Suter, Nashville still has a well-rounded team. To me, the Ducks look weak. They have one line, and after their big forwards the forward depth drops. The defense is below average. Goaltending at this point is average.

But in a short season, anything could happen. One hot streak and you're on top. Slow start or a slump could bury you.

I still think we're going to sign Arnott right before the season starts, which means we may not be forced to ask for a centre included in a possible Luongo deal, so there could be some more creative deal possibilities.

That's what everybody says every year. No 2 players can suddenly make a last place team a Stanley Cup contender. If they make it to the playoffs this year it will be because their guys are more ready to play from being in Oklahoma/KHL. Their time is coming, but it'll be more gradual than 29th to 1st, or even 14th to 8th in the conference.

I think a LOT of people are overestimating the Canucks. Our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines are guaranteed to be shuffled around for the majority of this season leaving no time for chemistry to build. I can only see the Sedin's and our goalie tandem being the consistent performers this year. I predict a second round exit after barely holding onto a division title.

1. St. Louis
2. Los Angeles
3. Vancouver
4. Chicago
5. Minnesota
6. Nashville
7. San Jose
