CanucksFanMike
So obviously defence isn't the number one concern for the Canucks heading into camp, but it never hurts to add depth on 'D'. I saw that we offered Cam Barker a PTO yesterday and I think we should do the same to Jim Vandermeer. Vandermeer and Barker were teamates with Chicago a few years back, and would both would be solid #7-8 dmen. Personally, I just don't think we can rely on Alberts if one of our dmen goes down.... He always turns the puck over in his own end and takes dumb penalties. Vandermeer is a solid defensive defenceman who brings grit and toughness (always willing to drop the gloves). He is an experienced veteran who could be a valueable #7 dman. http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8468213 I think we should sign him to a PTO and if he shows he can still play a solid defensive game, sign him to a one year contract. SkeeterHansen
Meh. I think we'll be all right if Barker is good enough to make the team. Alberts was pretty good when he played last year.
bossram
Sure, he's decent depth.
zombieksa
If he signs for 900k-1M range 1 year contract knowing he is depth I see no problem in offering him a contract.
Smashian Kassian
Yeah I think Alberts is better than him, and I think Barker could be alot better than some think, not great but I think he could be a good depth defenseman.
