DonLever
A woman brought in her nine month old baby to Earls Restaurant. There were no hi chairs available, so she is crying discrimination. Earls claim it is an adult restaurant, so there will be no change in their policy of no hi chairs. http://www.leaderpost.com/news/Family+restaurant+Lack+high+chairs+Earls+sparks+food+fight/7787008/story.html
*VaNcOuVeRCaNuCkS*
Although it would be nice for them to have these services I don't think it is meant to be discriminating in any way, lol Her 15 seconds of fame will be over quickly
BananaMash
Don't bring you 9 month old the the restaurant. You're going to irritate other people as soon as it starts crying. I'm prepared for your hate.
McBackup
The sad thing is, stuff like this doesn't surprise me any more. Next thing you know people will take kids to high-end restaurants and say its discrimination that they don't have chicken strips and chocolate milk on the menu. hsedin33
I used to work at Earls in Langley a long time ago, there is nothing 'adult' about that place. They actually seem to be quite adept at serving underage girls drinks, they've had their liquor license revoked several times.

Jägermeister
What a stupid complaint If Earls doesn't want their restaurant to be filled with kids screaming like a Red Robins or something, then what's wrong with that? Earls doesn't have hi-chairs, go to a restaurant that does. Problem solved.
SkeeterHansen
Your kid is nine months old. Leave it with a sitter or take it to McDonalds

Mr. Ambien
“It just makes no sense to me ... we are paying customers just like everyone else and we have a right to go to the restaurant with or without the baby,” he said.
Wetcoaster
I love how this niche of idiots make service about their rights when it's simply not getting their way. You have a "right" to go elsewhere if the service does not cater to you.
Primus099
Lounges like that are not kids restaurants, nobody wants to hear your screaming kid while they're eating dinner or having a drink. take him to chuck e cheese and stop wasting everyone's time
nucklehead
There are a number of grounds upon which a business open to the public such as Earl's may not discriminate - this is not one of them as age discrimination only can occur at 19 years of age or older. 8 (1) A person must not, without a bona fide and reasonable justification, (a) deny to a person or class of persons any accommodation, service or facility customarily available to the public, or ( discriminate against a person or class of persons regarding any accommodation, service or facility customarily available to the public because of the race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation or age of that person or class of persons. hudson bay rules
I'd bet that fewer sit-down restaurants have high chairs compared to those that don't. They didn't teach that in prenatal now did they?

Ghostsof1915
I bet there's a legal angle on this as well. If you supply high-chairs, if they break, or aren't maintained I bet a parent would sue. So by not providing them you're putting the onus on the customer to provide their own. Sounds cold. But businesses these days are cold, unfeeling, and get away with stuff that individuals would never get away with. Besides, as the other poster put it. Earl's....ewwwww.
