He already is a 2 way player. That is what they like about him.

Put the 25 goal season out of you mind, put the idea that 3rd liners have to be physical out of you mind and see him for what he is.

No 25 goals on 4th cause I don't see how he could be put ahead of any of those guys

I know, but he isn't exactly a defensive ace, he does make bad plays, and he doesn't block shots. Other than speed and positioning I'm not sure exactly what makes him so great defensively.

14 giveaways versus 35 takeaways in 10/11 tells me he's doing something right. Compare that to Samuelssons 36 giveaways versus 25 takeaways.

Lay off mayray for once. Maybe if everyone shuts up about the kid not scoring goals he will score goals!? I expect him to start well this year cause he;s ready to go and can expose people who arn't with his speed we just need someone to keep up with the kid and put in his rebounds canuse he has trouble finding the net on his own. I actually like kassian playing on the opposite side to mayray cause kass is better when he moves quick and can be the physical body raymond isn't. Look for may ray to score 10 in 48 this year but hopefully up his assist to about 15 that would be better than last year in a much shorter time and it's doable for the kid if he's playing with the right guys in the right situation.

However, he will probably be put in a checking role and it will amount to not a whole lot. I'm saying though if he plays with someone else who can push him with their speed and get to the net he could be dynamite on 2 on 1's. That's all we need from the guy scoring or assisting on some 2 on 1's using his speed with someone else alongside.

I think he could have a prorated 25g season.

With the lockout the NHL will be wanting to gain back some fans. Last year's playoffs had terrible ratings due to the style of play. I believe the NHL will call a lot more clutching and grabbing again. Like they did after the last lockout. I expect the league to become a skill and speed based hockey league again.

This will benefit the Canucks a great deal and also Raymond. I didn't believe Cancuks had a chance to win the Cup last year because of the game was being called. This year I think Cnaucks have a great chance and I think they are the favorites barring major injury.

Raymond and the Canucks will benefit from NHL being a more speed and skill based league.

Raymond was terrible in LA

Main reason we lost so bad with Lu was this

Booth Henrik Burrows
Raymond Kesler Higgins
Hansen Lapierre Malhotra
Weise Ebbet Kassian

Raymond = no depth

He still doesn't really fit into our long term plans, he is a skilled player but I really only see him as "depth" in case one of our premier forwards get injured.

If he played regularly, I could see him getting more points than he did the last two seasons.. But in all likelihood though, he won't be used affectively and end up being traded to Anaheim or somewhere else that could use secondary scoring.

Raymond is going to be our ace in the hole.

Probably our new 2nd line centre...........and running riot, all the way to Stanley. I can't wait.

To my recollection, the first problem with Raymond was the thumb injury he received back in December 2010(?). His shot hasn't quite been the same since that time. If he has somehow been able to correct this problem then he might well break the 20 goal mark.

Otherwise, I suspect he will either be traded at the deadline (if not sooner) or be allowed to walk as a UFA.

regards,
G.

You forgot the broken back he was recovering from last year, lots of hate for this kid.

If you look back at his career year, you will see that most of his success came around the time Daniel was hurt, or just coming back. He was on the 1st line, and had 1st unit PP time, confidence, etc.

Other than that half-season, Raymond has never scored at a 25-goal pace.

I don't mind the guy overall, but I'm in the "get rid of him" camp because he's proven to be fairly useless in the playoffs. I'd rather fill his spot with a guy who will not fold when the intensity goes up.

Even when he got 25 I felt it was an anomaly while watching this guy kill plays with a lack of vision, creativity and hands of stone even in that career year. Some may believe he will one day "return to form" but this is his form. Raymond is not a 25 goal scorer like Kesler is not a 40 goal scorer because your best season is not your average.

Raymond isn't a bad player. He does have good awareness of where to be on the ice, both on offence and defence. I think he would be better if he bulked up some, sacrificed some of his speed for power. His feet are faster than his hands anyway. If he can add15-20 lbs, so he plays about 195-205 it would help his confidence not to mention strengthin his back. He would be a more quality player regardless of which line he was on.

Obviously Raymond will have a better year than last year, due to being HEALTHIER. He's had plenty of time to rehab and strenghten his core.

He offers the Nucks flexibility at a very low cap hit. He can play on any line and is defensively reliable. If he scores 12/14 goals this year then fans should be happy with him. Mason as a two way 20 goal player is a great deal for this team.

This will be a crucial year for Raymond. He should be given an opportunity to prove himself. The way some fans are flinging him to the curb is ridiculous.

2nd'ed Hansen is beast. Love that kid's 5-check. My opinion is that MAyray gets packaged with bobby lou our schneids to pick up some of the missing pieces we need. He doesnt really fit in the current team Blueprint.

I'll give you five reasons why that is not going to happen: 28, 40, 35, 34, and 38.

What are those? Raymond's faceoff percentages from the last five seasons.

And "all the way to Stanley"? Raymond is the perfect example of our team's major weakness: secondary scoring in the playoffs. Mayray totally goes dry when the heat gets turned up. He has 2 goals in his last 29 playoff games.

I'd much rather give his roster spot to a physical player who can grind out some goals when they matter most. And at least when he isn't scoring, he can lay a beating on the other team.

Raymond is at least a 3rd line player on the majority of NHL teams. A cap hit of 2.75M is very good for what he offers. He happens to be playing on one of the top 5 teams in the league and is still a plausable 2/3rd line tweaner.
