Happening today. 2 out of the top 6 forwards are now out.

The key difference is that Sopel can fill in for Seabrook and Campbell just fine. Bieksa, he is garbage so in that sense he is like the worst defenseman in the league.

When Cody (Hodgson) gets older, he might be better than Datsyuk.

Let's not push this guy (Kassian). He's still immature, and if he fails on the 2nd line it's because he isn't ready. Some guys really need years to develop, it's how well and how fast players adapt to the game. In my opinion, I'd rather have Horvat getting 2nd line minutes. He will start off on the 3rd line next season but I see him making the transition, being a great compliment to whoever plays his wings.

At this point, I don't see Kassian fitting in to any role other than a 3rd. If players like Kassian start getting 2nd line minutes then we just stay inconsistent as a team.

Boom! More room for Kassian, plus we open up some cap space while Booth is out. That's 9.5m between Booth and Kesler that we have free'd up to either sign someone or make a big play at the deadline. Silver linings people!

Heard Kesler skated on his own today so that's good news. Actually I would like to see Kesler and Kassian together more than Kesler and Booth

Happening today. 2 out of 3 top 6 are now out.

Wouldn't that be 2 out of 6?

Anyways... I think this will be the year of the groin injury. Quick training camp + no exhibition games + short, intense season = many injuries

That is a weak 2nd line imo, Raymond is soft, Schroeder is unproven. Kassian is about the only player in that mix I think will be reliable.

Hmm, absolutely no second liners to start the year.

Terrific. Looks like it's going to be

Raymond Lapierre Higgins

Well we don't have much of a choice right now. From the looks of things in practice, Raymond will be on the second line.

Maybe to balance things out a bit more they could do:

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Raymond Lapierre Burrows
Higgins Schroeder Hansen

I like that better, it does balance it. Maybe this will spur MG on to move Luongo faster now to solidify that 2nd line, as a good start is going to be important with such a short season at hand.

Muscle tear would be great. Heals well with no problems down the road. Adductor tendon insertion (most bad groin strains) is another story. Has the potential to slow a player for good.

These kinds of injuries will happen to almost every team. It will all even out.

This could be a big opportunity for another player to step up.

Booth and Hamhuis didn't even make it to Day one of Camp.

Here we thought everyone would be healthy and rested except Kesler...oh boy here we go again...
We might be better off if they all took it down a notch for camp and the first week of the season even if we go 0-3. As soon as the injuries start tallying up for the other teams we can catch up.

We can't afford to be down any top 6 forwards for long unless Kassian can find some chemistry with the Sedins freeing up Burrows to play on the patchwork second line.

Raymond, Schroeder and Kassian on the second isn't going to cut it for long.

Off to a great start. One day into training camp and another top six forward is out. Who's next in line to exit the revolving door?

I still don't have Raymond on the 2nd line.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Schroeder - Kassian
Raymond - Lapierre - Hansen
Volpatti - Malholtra - Weise
Ebbett (Blake?)

Hamhuis (?) - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Ballard - Tanev
Vandermeer/Barker

Schneider
Luongo

I say keep Luongo, with the condensed schedule we'll need him. Hamhuis sat out practice, as well as Kassian (back), some real questions in our line up all of the sudden.

I wouldn't be surprised if this, and Hamhuis', injuries are very minor. Hoping it's just a slight strain that goes with uping the intensity of the workout and changing the routine. I'm no professional athlete, but I am fairly active, and I usualy get a sore groin for a week or two when I up the intensity of my programme.

What I love about our forward group is our bottom 6. Whenever someone is injured or hurt we have player in the bottom 6 that could jump up and play that kind of role. Depth is really important. Now we have depth on D by acquiring Barker and Vandermeer!
