Gomez might be a good gamble now the 2nd line is all but gone. adds depth down the middle that we need aswell.

if montreal buys him out before saturday.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Schroeder - Kassian
Raymond - Lapierre - Hansen
Volpatti/Ebbett - Malhotra - Weise

When you look at it, its not that bad of a line up if everyone meets their expectations.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Is it just me or has David Booth never really made sense here in Vancouver? The guy just doesn't feel like a Canuck. He rubs everyone the wrong way with his character, has not panned out in terms of point production, and has had horrible injury luck.

2/3rd of our 2nd line gone for a lengthy amount of time in a 48-game season. Oyyy.

It's frustrating having a player like that sidelined all the time. Injured in a fitness test? Really?

Well let's stay positive and say at least our prospects can get a real shot to get into the line up.

But overall I say %^%^(%%(%(^(%^%(^(%^(%&%(^%(%(^(&%^&%(^(&6

So about 18 games without Booth (and probably Kesler), almost half the season.

The Canucks will now struggle to make the playoffs. Higgins better have a monster season and I expect Hansen to really step up:

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen
Raymond - Schroeder - Pinizotto
Weise - Malhotra - Volpatti

Hansen is definately capable of scoring 20 goals, as is Higgins. If we can hover around playoff contention until Kesler and Booth get back we'll be fine, but that is a very thin bottom-9.

If he's was actually training and staying in shape during the lockout rather than hunting he may not have hurt himself during physicals.

He was skating at least 4-5 times a week. His fitness is not in question.

@BradZiemer: AV says fitness, or lack thereof, was not an issue with Booth. Says Booth may have over-trained. #Canucks

The injury feels like a slap in the face especially right after Gillis signs a bunch of D-men to counteract our injury woes.

We need to get as much scoring out of the Sedins as possible. Maybe AV should try Kassian or Hansen with the Sedins. Burrows can be a good playmaker while being more efficient with the puck than Hansen and imo Higgins and Raymond need a player like that.

ooh boy that is not great news,
i believe he was skating quite a bit during the lockout. i don't think injuries correlate to one being a true canuck or not. that's a pretty strange comment.
it will be interesting to see opening roster come saturday.

All this means is we're going to have to win with a different style of play for the first couple of weeks.

We'll win with strong defensive play, goaltending, and special teams. Not unlike how we normally win. Just now, we won't have that extra punch to outscore teams when we're playing poorly. We will need other players to step up though.

Adversity can be a good thing. This is why you have depth on a team.

Guy was on pace for 22 goals last year... not stellar but pretty normal for a second line winger nowadays so I'm not sure how he hasn't panned out... never mind he actually drives the net.

Comparing $4m FWs.

Pavol Demita (RIP) had 20 G, 53PTS in 69 games in 2008-09.
David Booth had 16G, 29PTS in 56 games in 2011-12.

4-6 weeks out in a half-season is going to be similar to Demitra's 2nd season with the Canucks.

IDK. I guess it could be just bad luck but Booth is not looking like a very good investment so far.....

Exactly what I was thinking.

We need to deal Lou and bring in help or potentially be prepared for a very iffy start to the season.

The worst thing the organization can do is panic about a couple of injuries and deal Lou for less than what Gillis wants.

wow! You really have never hunted, yes he bow hunts and does sit in tree stands a lot but hunting is a "physical" activity. And also you think he went cold turkey at the gym? Ur delusional

hunting and staying in game shape are two totally different things. I don't here of two many hunters pulling their groin. Maybe he went to the gym but I doubt he was skating shooting the puck or doing drills like lots of other players were. He pulled his groin during a physical , he probably wasn't even stretching in the off season. Some players just took the lockout as a long vacation and some actually stayed in shape and played hockey.

I said it in the last Booth thread, look at the silver linings people! Kassian will have a real shot at a top 6 wing spot, Schroeder could possibly fill in for Kesler while he's out, and between the 5m from Kesler and the 4.5m from Booth, we free up a prorated 9.5m to make a deadline splash. I'm a fan of our prospects and I really like the idea of giving them a shot.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Schroeder - Kassian
Raymond - Lapierre - Hansen
Volpatti - Malholtra - Weise
Ebbett

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Ballard - Tanev
Barker/Alberts

Schneider
Luongo

Granted it leaves a few question marks, but I think having guys that have played 30+ games at this point is actually an advantage that should be utilized.

I predict Raymond ebbett kassian.. It's not ideal but I think the effectiveness of Higgins lapierre and Hansen will balance that out.

Yes, in most cases.

However, this is a 48 game schedule, with condensed games, and we are meeting some teams that have been revamped with speed and talent, its imperative we have a good start and 2 good lines imo.

Don't see that happening now.

I was just looking at other forwards in that $4M range. You have guys like Eriksson, Lupul and Michalek and J. Staal who posted really good numbers, but if you look at the rest of those forwards and their point production they fall around the same range. So again I'm wondering why people are saying he is under-performing.

http://www.capgeek.c...2012&player=813

He's not bad, he's not good, he's average.

Rubs everyone the wrong way? Why? because he hunts and / or he's a Christian?!

Exactly what I was going to say. WTF people? Why am I surprised, though? Lot's of people get spooked or even feel convicted by people who are Christians and are strong in and proud of their beliefs.
