DeNiro
Ah come on nows folks, if regime change weapons were so bad, then why did Saint Obama authorize their sale to Mexican Cartels and Syrian "freedom fighters?"

RUPERTKBD
Is there any guarantee that none of them will ever, ever, ever destabilize and fall into chaos? Nearby China and North Korea had no problem falling under a dictatorship. How can you guarantee that things will remain so peachy for thousands of years to come? thepedestrian
I can't. But I can guarantee that it's a far less likely scenario than some nutjob taking a semi-automatic with a high capacity magazine into a school and indiscriminantly shooting children. thepedestrian
And the stupidity begins I guess having that fully automatic weapon in your possession is far more important than the lives of children and innocent parties. I've said it before, and I'll say it again......automatic weapons have no place in the hands of Joe Q Public. And the only purpose, of armour-piercing bullets is to kill someone wearing body armour. In other words, their only purpose is to kill people. Yep, those are really required and deserve defending with so-called constitutional 'rights'. Tearloch7
Cmon, really. I expect better. They are looking to put restrictions on semi-automatic guns. Not fully automatic guns which are allready really really hard to get and are heavily regulated. You can't say they don't have a place either because they do. To protect against tyrannical governments. Can you please show some evidence that the USA isn't becoming more and more of a police state?
Tearloch7
WHAT!?!? Its far less likely but carries FAR FAR greater risk. You think whats happening in North-Korea isn't as bad as Sandy Hook? Some really dumb posts on CDC today.

Tearloch7
Don't feed the trolls. Ignore function is best. The more people that ignore them, the more time they waste responding in futility to posts. http://www.theatlant...gun-list/61075/ What I find about the "23 executive actions" is, well.. much ado about nothing. I guess Obama sycophants like those cheering in the first page expected him to single handedly uproot the Constitution.

Lancaster
Democracy is more than the simple majority rules model. It sounds quite democratic as that is the US system of democracy that recognizes there are three branches of government - executive, legislative and judicial - each with their own role to play. Mr. Ambien
Considering this is a very hot-topic issue with a large portion of the population going to disagree with Obama's plans.... wouldn't it be better to have the issue dealt with through Congress, the Senate, etc? Plus, wouldn't the effect of his action be a unconstitutional, thus getting the Supreme Courts involved?
Electro Rock
Newsflash: pretty much every current or historical tyranny needed time to get up and running, the Bolsheviks, National Socialist Germany, North Korea, all started out being much less nasty than they'd later become, but even at their early going the signs were clearly there. It takes time to implement mechanisms of control and deal with those seen as threats and liabilities. If anyone thinks the likes of the Patriot Act and NDAA is worrisome, imagine what lies further down that road?
