DeNiro
It just doesn't make sense. If an offense-only player can't produce offense, how is he serviceable? Ebbett showed last year he will do whatever it takes to stay in the line-up and produced more goals than Gomez in way fewer games.
canuck_trevor16
Scot Gomez could come here because he has play here during his BCHL days and he is from Alaska........Also he is TWO stanley cup rings...we currently have zero but we have cup final experience.....but Jordon Schroeder should get his chance to shine and Gomez will likely go to a team that is desperate for a center....... canuck_trevor16
I would not be surprise if Scott Gomez signed a contract with the Canucks or another team tomorrow . There will be competition to get him. Did MG ever acknowledge what they plan to do with no second line?We see if he comes here or another team, I sure we should have some interest? Ilya Mikheyev
Wow, somebodies a little too high on Ebbett. There's a reason the guy has never been able to become a full time NHLer. He's not as good as you seem to think he is. Scott Gomez has almost 700 points in 900 NHL games, and has two cup rings. Gomez on his worst day isn't as bad as Ebbett. He's serviceable because he can play a defensive role and chip in on the pk. Last season he was riddled with injuries, so you can't fairly judge him based on that season. If you look at the season before, he led the team in takeaways and was 5th in scoring. Montreal has not exactly been a great team offensively the last couple of seasons either (finishing bottom third both seasons). He clearly just didn't fit in there. He needs a new team to help him re-invent his game. That seems to be a hobby of Gillis's. Gomez is the exact definition of a moneyball player. You need to stop labelling a player because of what other fans have said. Every player has an off season or two, it doesn't mean they suck. Players that know it's their last chance, tend to play pretty well. It worked for Torres after all.
GLASSJAW
I'm not THAT high on Ebbett, but Gomez is definitely NOT a good defensive player and would play only on the PK after - Malhotra, Hansen, Burrows, Lapierre, Higgins and Raymond. Kesler too when he's healthy. Gomez didn't PK at all for MTL last year for a reason.. What I am saying is, Gomez isn't a useful 3rd liner, because of his lack of defensive game, he obviously isn't a 4th liner and as a 'serviceable' upgrade over Ebbett that just doesn't make sense... a 13th forward needs to be a player who will put in 100% effort every chance he gets, Gomez didn't show that at all last year and had worse offensive stats than Ebbett. drdeath
Flames would make sense. They're certainly not above such desperation moves and they've kind of got themselves stuck as far as centres go.

DeNiro
Sportsnet reports Gomez is only interested in Western Conference teams. So far the Sharks are the only team to make him an offer.

WHL rocks
MG should be in contact with Gomez's agent. I think MG should sign him if he can be had for cheap, Wade Redden money.
Ilya Mikheyev
News of the day as many of you know is that Scott Gomez skated with the Sharks this morning as he and the team try to figure if there’s a good fit here. The fact that Larry Robinson is on the coaching staff helps immensely as the two were together in New Jersey and apparently have high regard for each other. I did get a chance to talk with Doug Wilson between connecting flights. “We look at it that he’s 33, he’s won two cups. A very versatile player,” the GM said.
