That's right, these are Canadian University students. Memorial University is a stones throw from the Atlantic. It's not known what they believe that large body of water to be. There are no words...

Adler decided she had to make sure her students knew the locations she was talking about. She handed out a blank map, and gave her students simple instructions: Identify Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
"The results were really mind-opening to me," she said.
"They should not be confusing Antarctica and the Arctic, and they should know that they live on the Atlantic Ocean ... and they should be able to know where North America is."

I got kicked out of the slut walk for trying to bid on the participants.

We were taught major rivers in Europe and Asia in grade 3 ... How could university students not be able to identify continents and oceans?

First I was shocked... and then I realized it was Newfoundland. :)

To err is human - but to really screw up you need a computer.

Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done and why. Then do it.

Meh maybe the students think of her Sociology course as a joke class and treat it as such. I went to university with some very brilliant people (of course that was on the west coast so who knows)

I'm pretty sure the booze there is just as expensive as it is here in Ontario. What gives?

The rum pics reminded me of a party I went that had had a half dozen drunk Newfies. Funniest party I ever went to. I'm starting to think that Newfies are incapable of getting angry when drunk. Ultimate partiers.

I've got to say...
Working with several Newfies for a couple of years now and having the good fortune of actually sailing into St. John's on one occasion - these students are screwing with their Professor.
If I asked a Newfie to do some stupid menial quiz then he'd give me some pretty ridiculous answers for no other reason than a laugh. They've got a twisted sense of humour... even to their own detriment at times.

So does that mean i have a better chance in getting into Memorial university now? Think i learned that in grade 5. Will admit geography isn't as forced as it use to be. This is kind of the same as my New Brunswickers not knowing where the Miramichi river is located.

**RETIRED...**

"Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens & the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We (Allah) parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?" (Qur'an 21:30)

11477626583_2368927097.jpg     49997_b70e6ae14ce1652fa11bd1dda624afd1.g   7649118508_ce3e8a74a1_o.jpg

"Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure--one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.” (David Rockefeller)
