Ok lu is a great goalie contract hurts value

Schneider will grab us way more

Lack is gonna be ready in 2 years

Condensed schedule personaly trust lu more

So how about we trade schneider as our line up will improve way more and lack will be around in 2 3 years it works great

Schneider 1st to Edm for Eberle or Hall

Schneider to Columbus for Johanson and a 2nd (thats my pick)

Schneider Tanev to dallas for Jamie Benn (if we could wow)

Seriously the top 2 deals make sense for everyone why the hell not everyone is over the lu benching in the playoffs including (seemingly Lu)

We would be way be way better off for it

I think they've gone a little too far down the trading Luongo road to turn back now.

Once a player comes out and says that he would be okay leaving, it's time to say goodbye.

Schneider will NOT net more return. At best, similar value.

Schneider and Tanev for Benn  a few flaws with this

1) Dallas just locked up Kari Lehtonen, and they have Jack Campbell and Richard Bachman in the system

2) Luongo is being traded. If Schneider was he would've been by now

3) Vancouver laughs. Schneider alone is an overpayment

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Didn't Lou say that he doesn't want to stay here any longer than he has to? You keep him over the guy who can't wait to prove himself as a starter? A guy who's younger, more athletic, has better vision, and who is better technically? A guy who has worked his way up the ranks of the Canucks' system?
Pppfffffffffft! No.

Miller is not on our list. It's Lack as our #1. There is no reason we would have traded both Schnieder and Luongo if we never intended to give Lack the #1 starting job.  Furthermore, the salary and term Miller is looking for is not in our favor.

i agree with most that is too late for that. but i thought last season at the deadline MG should have entrained offers and dealt him(schnieds).only because the franchise made a long term commitment to a very good goaltender and from a professional stand point you honor your commitments. future ufa's might look at this and decide this isn't the place for them where commitments aren't honored

the way the best goalie ever to suit up as a nuck has been handled is an embarrassment to the entire organization.

hope he goes to florida he deserves better than the leafs.

I'd rather keep Lu this whole season than trade Schneider. That's nothing against Luongo, he's been fantastic and carried the team at times, but everyone in the organization agrees that his time here is done and he's better served going someplace else. Schneider is not a proven commodity, he's never brought a team to the playoffs, or played 60+ games a year, or been a Vezina candidate, he won't bring more than Lu.

I still like the idea of a Schneider trade. Luongo is good enough to win it all, and a Schneider trade would bring in some wonderful assets since the world has decided that he is the superior goalie. Maybe those assets help the team score more than 8 goals in 7 games the next time Luongo takes them to the Finals. :towel:

Frankly, I'm fine with either goalie being traded. Gillis will make sure the team is improved from it.

This is exactly why it is high time to trade one of these guys. If it's going to be Luongo...get it done.

Would also rather keep Luongo have more trust that he can win us a cup and Schneider could bring in some much needed scoring that seems to dry up in the playoffs

All the other GMs just want Cory
So we should trade him...we'll get Eberle!

And what if Schneids falters out of the gate ... nerves, jitters, or 2nd year goalie jinx? Remember he got chased out of a playoff game in the Swiss league by letting in 5 goals. And his stat there, 3.22 GAA and .914 save %.

Would you trade Schneds and keep Lui then?

He got chased out of a playoff game? No, no...we can't have a starter do that!

Yeah, I am sure you aren't serious about this...right? If the Oilers get Schneider there will be little to stop them from thrashing their division rivals....including the Canucks.

This is Schneider's 3rd season, not his 2nd.

Pulled or not, a .914 save percentage for a team that I AM SURE is defensively inferior to the Canucks is respectable. He was obviously still stopping the puck most nights.

Not to mention, you are suggesting we keep the goaltender who gave up 7+ goals multiple times in the NHL playoffs, which is far more comparable than some Swiss League playoff.

Regular season, I don't care, I think both goalies will be fine. When the playoffs come however, Luongo should be riding the pine.

totally agree. Gillis signed Lu to that contract because he wanted Lu here for his entire career. then just a couple season later hes looking to trade him. quite frankly the organization does not deserve Luongo, hes been nothing but class throughout this ordeal and he deserves much better than how he has been treated here.

The reason Schneider has more value is because he is better, younger, and cheaper. I am glad we can keep him and get assets for Lu rather than having to trade assets to get him.

I would not want to win a cup in an asterisk season. It will always and forever be considered a hollow victory by just about everyone, including whoever wins it. It would be the "Yeah, but . . . " Cup.
