The entire team looks a lot more confident in the third period.

....Maybe just maybe cause Lou is in net again.

does this coach know how to coach?

Players are god awful tonight and look totally unprepared.

Anaheim up 5-2 and call timeout after icing

Canucks down 5-2, AV keeps on chewing.

2nd line is crap. Defence is crap. Schneider couldnt stop a beach ball on a couple of them. The team just looks terrible tonight. Absolute pathetic showing in the first game of a short season.

Hope tomorrow is better.

Hahahaha. Both, kinda? I'm upset that we're getting owned by Anaheim, but I'm happy that I can see my Nucks again after 8 long months.

Looking forward to tomorrow now. Should be pretty exciting. Hopefully we can fix some things. Look for line changes since AV refuses to play anyone that isn't solidifed. He's out of options.

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

No second line. Schroeder should be here. That's what non players like gillis and vigneault miss.

Gillis and Vigneault were NHL players.

Personally not even just because of this game, I don't expect too much this season and am fine with it just because of the whole year.

Well what's supposed to be our strongest suit (goaltending) has ended up failing us. 3 goals for should get the job done with a solid defence and goaltender.

I'm blaming AV on this loss - he should seriously consider changing the mentality of our defence from an offensive one that takes stupid risks and pinches to more of a shutdown, stay at home type of defence.

No toughness, no pushback, we've seen this act before.

Pathetic. Time for a change.

This team hasn't been ready for a game for a long time.

Coach?

Yeah, but 4th line bangers. I don't think they understand what motivates a young player with skill. They keep playing the pluggers, which I would support 90% of the time. There is a time though to let the skill make it or break it.

I almost spit coffee all over my keyboard when I saw Edler's new contract. It's OK to make mistakes, just not the same ones twice...

Ballard, Edler, and Tanev have all been solid.

Garrison still isn't used to his positioning with Edler, but as time goes by he'll be fine.
