It’s Gun Appreciation Day Eve, the day before some Americans will mark the Martin Luther King Day/Obama inaugural weekend by visiting gun ranges, gun stores, and gun shows armed with copies of the U.S. Constitution, American flags, and “Hands Off My Guns” signs “to send a loud and clear message to Congress andPresident Obama.”

Although Gun Appreciation Day chairman Larry Ward assures people that Martin Luther King would have approved of his demonstration, the group’s sponsors include a White Nationalist party called The American Third Position, which “believes that government policy in the United States discriminates against white Americans, the majority population, and that white Americans need their own political party to fight this discrimination.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated A3P a “white nationalist hate group,” and the Anti-Defamation League calls them a “white supremacist political party.”

Also from the Anti-Defamation League:

Publicly identified leaders of the A3P are its chairman William D. Johnson, a California lawyer who has run for office in Wyoming, Arizona and California; and four directors: Kevin MacDonald, an anti-Semitic professor of psychology at California State University-Long Beach; James Edwards, a Tennessee-based white supremacist who runs the Political Cesspool radio show; Tomislav Sunic, a white supremacist author and radio show host and Don Wassall, a white supremacist who founded the racist and anti-Semitic American Nationalist Union.

American Third Position is one of dozens of Gun Appreciation Day sponsors, and although there is no fee to become a sponsor, Gun Appreciation Day’s approval is required:

Obama, Feinstein and the rest gun grabbing, opportuniists are dead set on passing Gun Control Legislation this Month.

This is the ‘line in the sand’ moment for those of us that love the Constitution. Americans need to make a powerful statement that will put the fear of God in our politicians that are thinking about infringing upon our Second Amendment Rights.

If you have an
Political or Member Organzation, Non-Profit, For Profit, PAC, Blog, Newsletter and/or Facebook Fan Page
and want to help spread the message of the first ever national Gun Apprecation Day we want to add your group to our website as a sponsor.

No cash required (
) , we just ask that you spread the word to your memebers, fans and followers every day until and including January 19, 2013.

Simply fill out the form below and we will be in touch.

Most of the Gun Appreciation Day sponsors are gun retailers, or other firearms-related businesses, along with gun advocate groups. Oddly, GAD was able to snag the sponsorship of Men Who Support Women Against Gun Control, but haven’t yet landed Women Against Gun Control. The Angry Pepper, a Connecticut-based food company, is also a sponsor, as is Puerto Rico Armed Citizen, which appears to have signed up before American Third Position did.

Media Matters For America, who flagged the White Nationalist sponsorship, has a lot more information on American Third Position, but for my money, the Gun Appreciation Day sponsor that really says it all is this one:

halfcocked.jpg

Not to make light of a serious medical condition, but if you were among the ranks of Half-Cocked-Americans, you’d probably be clinging to your stockpile of guns, too.

Update: Gun Appreciation Day has removed American Third Position from the event. From Media Matters:

In a statement responding to
Media Matters’
report, Gun Appreciation Day wrote that while they have attempted to screen out groups “that might detract from the message,” “We mistakenly missed one. We have removed the group and reiterate this event is not about racial politics, it is about gun politics.” The
:

The small hard working staff at Political Media, Inc has been working diligently throughout the Gun Appreciation Day Campaign. The volume of support we have received has been overwhelming. We decided to have an open registration for sponsorship for Gun Appreciation Day put a screening process in place to avoid associating the event or Political Media, Inc. with groups or businesses that might detract from the message.

We mistakenly missed one.

We have removed the group and reiterate this event is not about racial politics, it is about gun politics. We believe in equal rights of ALL Americans in every race, gender, religion, location and economic class to keep and bear arms as guaranteed to them in the Bill of Rights.

Gun Appreciation Day also wrote on its Facebook page: “Guys, the screening process of our sponsors was apparently not deep enough – We have corrected the problem, but you should know the left wing media called us out on it as they should have. We know better and I apologize for not catching this…but we are forging ahead – This is about Gun Liberty for all.”

Yet I continue to try.

I have to wonder if Z really thinks I'm here to do nothing but "insult" him and other gun rights activists. I really do attempt rational debate, but unfortunately, there are elements within the NRA and other 2nd amendment proponents that are worthy of nothing but derision. (Alex Jones, Wayne Lapierre, etc.) In some cases, one needs to call a spade a spade...

Unfortunately, instead of debate, I get random responses, accusing me of being a "bully" and "insulting"... of course, vitually every response is punctuated with the obligatory lol emoticon, as if to suggest that whatever remark that was made struck him as uproariously funny....

Judge Finds California Boy Responsible in the Killing of His Neo-Nazi Father

Jeff Hall held his 6-month-old daughter in April 2011. Days later, his son Joseph shot and killed him. Joseph, 12, was found guilty of murder on Monday.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The young son of a neo-Nazi knew right from wrong when he shot and killed his father, and he is therefore responsible for second-degree murder, a judge ruled on Monday.

Joseph Hall was 10 years old when he shot his sleeping father in the head in 2011. Now 12, he could be held in state custody until age 23.

Because Joseph was so young at the time of the murder, the case hinged on whether he understood that shooting his father, Jeffrey Hall, 32, was wrong.

The judge, Jean P. Leonard of Riverside County Superior Court, said that after the shooting, Joseph put the gun under his bed; he did not cry when the police arrived, even as other family members were sobbing; and testimony indicated that he might have told his younger sister days before that he planned to shoot their father.

“These actions show the court that he knew his actions were wrong and did not want to get caught,” Judge Leonard said in court Monday.

The trial, which began in October but was delayed for months and resumed last week, offered a rare glance into the life of a young boy whose family hosted monthly neo-Nazi meetings at their home.

Joseph had been violent since he was a young child, according to testimony, beginning before his father joined the National Socialist Movement. Joseph hit his sisters and his stepmother, stabbed classmates at school with pencils and once tried to strangle a teacher with a telephone cord.

After he had been kicked out of half a dozen schools for violent behavior, his stepmother, Krista McCary, and Mr. Hall home-schooled him, Ms. McCary testified at the trial.

“He was very impulsive and very violent towards the other children and teachers,” Ms. McCary said. “Hitting, kicking, biting, scratching, stabbing with sharp objects, hitting with objects.”

Mr. Hall also beat Joseph regularly for years before the murder, the judge said on Monday.

Michael Soccio, the chief deputy district attorney, said he hoped the court would get Joseph help. “Joseph is a little boy, and his life has been very, very sad,” Mr. Soccio said after the ruling. But he added: “I also would have been concerned had Joseph been released. I think he’s a very dangerous boy.”

Sitting quietly in court, slight and blond and wearing glasses and a button-down shirt, Joseph showed no visible reaction when the judge found the allegations against him — the murder charge and one count of using a firearm — to be true.

If he ends up in state custody, Joseph would be the youngest person in the StateDivision of Juvenile Justice, which houses minors who have committed serious crimes, a state official said.

Matthew J. Hardy, the public defender representing Joseph, said it would be “a complete tragedy” if the boy were sent to state custody. Mr. Hardy said he planned to appeal the ruling.

Mr. Hardy had argued that the environment in the Hall home glorified violence and that, given his young age, left Joseph unable to understand right from wrong.

During the trial, Mr. Hardy showed a photograph of Joseph holding a toy gun, giving a Nazi salute and smiling beside a hooded Klansman.

The day before the murder, a reporter attended a neo-Nazi gathering at the Hall home. During the meeting, Joseph sat quietly on the stairs. He said he was having fun, even showing off a new belt bearing a Nazi insignia.

Around 4 a.m. the next day, Joseph pulled his father’s .357 handgun — which he called “the bad gun,” the judge said — down from the shelf in his parents’ bedroom. He walked downstairs, where his father lay sleeping on the couch, and shot Mr. Hall in the head.

After the police arrived, Joseph was escorted to a squad car, where he talked with Officer Michael Foster. He asked questions like “Do people get more than one life?” Officer Foster said.

“He was sad about it,” Officer Foster said in testimony. “He wished he hadn’t done it.”
